American ElectroPop act Dangerous Muse dropped their first offering on new label Scarce Goods last month, the single ‘I Want It All’.
It’s a deep and intricate SynthPop track that makes great use of resonance to an eerie effect. The polished production reigns the obvious 80’s styling into a slick Pop package.
Looking into Dangerous Muse is a must for any fan of pure SynthPop!

‘I Want It All’ is out now!
Despite being everyone’s band of the moment and coming fourth in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll, Mancunian ElectroPopers HURTS are yet to release anything, or play a gig!
Their well blogged track of last year ‘Wonderful Life’ is being released as a limited edition 12” (with the Arthur Baker reMix) on 18th January but with the release of this video for the song ‘Blood, tears & Gold’ you can bet it will be the first single proper.
Now THAT is a huge, deep 80’s ballad!!!!
‘Wonderful Life’ can be pre-ordered here:
House/Electronica producer Rui Maia is back and dropping beats under the guise of Mirror People. Counting New Order, Add N To (X), Giorgio Moroder and Suicide amongst his influences (and you can bet Kraftwerk too!), you can see them shine through in this almost minimal slice of Electro. ‘Diamonds’ is a blipy little tune whose sheer electronicness can’t help but put a smile on my face.

Check out a couple of reMixes he’s done for Detachments (really Kraftwerky!) and blogtastic Nu-Disco act Neon Indian.

We’ve already hit you with Ali Love’s forthcoming single ‘Love Harder’ and in our excitement for the single dropping we’ve can’t help but share with you two reMixes from the release.
Tronik Youth turn in quite a minimal, quite old school House, mix that has some SynthPop overtones that all works pretty well together while Jaymo & Andy George’s wonky rave reMix beefs up the original.

‘Love Harder’, is out soon on Back Yard Recordings
The countdown to the release of CHEW LiPS’ début album, ‘Unicorn’, on 25th January has begun! Here’s another reMix to keep you going until then.
‘Play Together’ will be the first single from the album and will feature this reMix by House producers WAWA who turn the ElectroPop track into a Big Room House floor filler with a hint of big trance synths too!

You can pre-order ‘Unicorn’ now from CHEW LiPS website.
We’ve been keeping an eye on SoundCloud all morning since they announced on their Twitter feed that The Knife would be débuting new material via their service sometime this week, and here it is.
The Swedish Experimental ElectroPoppers were commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to compose the music for an opera based on Charles Darwin and his work ‘On The Origin Of Species’ and in a The Knife first they decided to collaborate with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock to “to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme”
‘Colouring Of Pigeons’ is a strange and intoxicating beast, undeniably The Knife (especially when Karin’s trademark vocals kick in) but the operatic feel to it gives it a life all of it’s own. Give it a few listens, it gets under your skin (in the best of ways), which, I suppose, makes it classic The Knife!

The studio version of the opera, ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’ will be released on Rabid Records on1st March.
I honestly don’t think I can wait any more! CHEW LiPS’ début album, ‘Unicorn’, drops in a mere matter of days now!
I know you all feel the same, so to tide you over here is a brand new reMix of CL’s forthcoming single ‘Play Together’ by London’s DJ Jocks which completely changes the song, giving it a early 90’s disco flavour. The FM arpeggiated bassline makes me think of the Arthur Baker reMix of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘In The Night’ (from The Clothes Show!)

‘Unicorn’ can be pre-ordered from CHEW LiPS’ store here.
Scandinavian Wonky Popsters Alphabeat’s second studio album ‘The Spell’ hits stores on 1st March, just ahead of that they are paving the way with the single ‘Hole In My Heart’ on 22nd February.
‘Hole In My Heat’ is a slice of huge, pure Pop, genius and comes with a sweet array of reMixes.
Most notable, fellow Scandinavian’s The Sound Of Arrows, who are currently making waves amongst ElectroPop fans with their single ‘Into The Clouds’, turn their Dreamwave tinged Electro goodness on Anders and Stine’s vocals to create an instant classic Disco flavoured ElectroPop track.
Elsewhere, Wideboys create a big, radio friendly, dance tune, completely the opposite of Chew Fu’s broken beats, warp bass and Disco stabs.

Insanity! Compiling a top twenty tracks of 2009 was infinitely harder than the album list, I have no idea how it got finished! Once again, there was so much good music released in 2009, it truly was a wicked year to be into electronic music, just look at that top ten! From established acts like Røyksopp to bands who made 2009 their own such as Filthy Dukes, La Roux and Little Boots to bands that are going to blow up in 2010 like CHEW LiPS and The Vanish, the music we’ve been given in 2009 has set the bar so high for the coming year.
I wish there were more slots, I could have easily made it a top 40 or 50, and like the album list I have probably forgotten some gem I was rockin’ to in January and I’ll probably want to reorder in a few hours. But right now, here’s the list. Many, many thanks to all the artists that provided our soundtrack to 2009 and all the artists featured on electronic rumors, without you this past year would have been a depressing, gray mess!
