Strange Talk

This track may be over a year old buy Australia’s Strange Talk have just released their début EP and ‘Climbing Walls’ is blowing up.

And what better reason to celebrate it! You probably already know the track, it was featured on Kitsuné Maison 10 and is the prefect summery Indie-ElectroPop. It you don’t mind a little feel-good gangly guitar in your dance music then you’ll dig this tune for sure. Their sound is pretty Australian IndiePop (if you know what I mean) with hints of Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix or The Naked And Famous, nice catchy tunes that would work well both live or on the dancefloor. Or to chill to.

Kimbra’s new video

This is the video for Kimbra’s forthcoming new single ‘Cameo Lover’ from her soon-to-be-released début album ‘Vows’. You may remember Kimbra as the voice of Miami Horror’s awesome ‘I Look To You’.

This new single of hers has a weird, but pleasing, Electro 60’s thing going on which is carried over into the Guy Franklin directed video.

Florrie’s new video

Here is the video for the lead track from Florrie’s new EP.

‘Begging Me’ isn’t quite as catchy as some of her previous tunes but it is a fun a slick slice of Xenomania mid-tempo Pop that I can already feel worming it’s way into my brain.

The video was directed by Price James.

‘Begging Me’ is out now.

She’s The Queen & Jules Schimmer

It’s Thursday! You know what that means!

I swear I’m not doing this deliberately, people keep sending me sweet She’s The Queen reMixes on a Wednesday!

Today’s action comes courtesy of UK producer and DJ Jules Schimmer who lays down a deep arpeggiated retro bassline and some shimmering synths for She’s The Queen’s ‘As We Run’. Taking the original to an early 80’s place with his drum patterns, rapid fire claps and electro toms give it a authentic Electro flavour and creates a nice juxtaposition between Emily’s soulful vocals and Jules’ almost B-Boy beats.

MMMatthias reMixes SebastiAn

This is what happens when producers with unique ideas about capitalisation (of letters, not globaly) meet.

MMMatthias, one of our favourite German producers had reMixed SebastiAn latest single, and the precursor to his now album, ‘Embody’. MMMatthias ups the tempo and Discos things up a little. More choppy and noisy than we’re used to from MMMatthias, the cut-ups and 8-bit sounds give the tune a real edge and counterpoints the smooth retro synths. The whole thing is keps rocking with some dark growling bass synths. Great stuff!

Monarchy mix up ‘Gold In The Fire’ and ‘Eternal Flame’

Here’s a pretty odd track, but it really works.

Monarchy, true to their name, in celebration of the impending royal wedding have recorded this piano mashup between their ‘Gold In The Fire’ and The Bangles’ ‘Eternal Flame’. The two seem to go together perfectly and it reminds you what an immense Pop song.

‘Eternal Flame’ is.

♫ Monarchy – Gold In The Eternal Fire

I’m not bothered about the royal wedding in the slightest, save for the fact that I have to travel into London tomorrow and it’s going to be a nightmare! Other than that it just seems to be a be a massive financial burden on we, the public. We’re not even invited!
