Pharao Black Magic’s new tune

Pharao Black Magic

‘Mambo Marimba’ is the B-side to Pharao Black Magic’s forthcoming Nang Records single, ‘Heliopolis’.

The duo have managed to make an Electro Disco track that is deep and electronic on one hand and summery cheesy fun on the other. You’re never quite sure whether you’re supposed to be nodding your head and appreciating it as a fan of synth music, or going nuts regardless of your surroundings. So why not do both? If this is the B-Side, we can’t wait for the rest of the EP.

MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ video

MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is one of my favourite tunes of the moment. It’s just do damn catchy.

After a brief absence, while MM did proper band photo shoots and stuff, the mice are back in the new video for the single. The video’s cute, the songs infections, I’m expecting this tune to be huge.

‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is released 18th July with a stellar line up of reMix talent including Mario Basanov, Edwin Van Cleef, Blamma! Blamma!, Tronik Youth, and Tareq.

New EP from Toro Y Moi

toro_y_moi

Chillwave staple Toro Y Moi in more of a smooth mode right about now.

He’s just announced his latest EP, titled ‘Freaking Out’ which is rumoured to be influenced by the likes of the Gap Band and Teddy Riley. You can hear that in Toro Y Moi’s cover of Alexander O’Neal & Cherelle’s ‘Saturday Love’. Slick late 90’s electronic R&B with a dreamy Chillwave sheen and an ear for spaced-out Funk. The tune, which features on the new EP, is a sweet love song with a mind-blowing bassline seen through the haze of reverb washed psychedelia.

‘Freaking Out’ is released 13th September.

Rimer London’s new single

Rimer London must be one of my favourite artists around, I love the way he creates a Disco groove without heading straight down the French Touch route.

Decidedly analog and synth geek heaven, Rimeroni Vumani’s sound is exemplified on his new single ‘Put Your Gun Away’ featuring Cata Pirata. The third from his self-titled album. It’s quirky analog SynthPop with a Moroder-esque Disco vibe. From the infections riff to the vintage drums, the track conjures up images of Rimeroni surrounded by keys and wires creating dancefloor gold. There’s also a lot of fun to be had with the video, you can watch the original version here, and then had on over to Magnetron Music’s special site to become part of the video yourself.

Para One & Tacteel’s new EP

Para One & Tacteel

French duo and producers in their own rights Para One & Tacteel drop a new EP this week after a long stretch of silence.

The EP, ‘Fair Enough’, contains a pretty stunning five tracks. Intricately crafted electronic music with a Disco groove, an experimental side to them and some cinematic musicality. ‘Rome’ is the most Disco track on the EP, funky analog tweaking for a 70’s synth sound flies atop a rounded bass sound and a solid, head nodding, foundation. But underneath the dancefloor orientation and the electronic indulgences there is a well written song too. Both the composition and arrangement are first class. ‘A1’ rolls like a distorted Italo tune in the hands of a Dub experimentalist, these guys obviously have fun with creating electronic music and a definite ear for what gets people dancing. This is a recommended EP.

The Supermen Lovers ‘Keep The Funk Alive’

The Supermen Lovers

The Supermen Lovers are pretty much elder statesmen of French Touch and Nu-Disco.

This week the drop a brand new EP on La Tebwa. Titled ‘Foundation Disco’ the PE sees The Supermen Lovers bringing things back to basics, back to the funk. The lead track is ‘Keep The Funk Alive’,which takes electronic Funk to new deep dark places. Getting it’s groove on alongside chainsaw synths and Acid burbling. It’s a particularly French take on synth Funk, so expect it to have an edge. The entire EP is well worth your time.

Edwin Van Cleef reMixes MiGHty mOUse

MiGHty mOUsebpas

Oh boy, been waiting for this one! We’ve been pretty enamoured with MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ for a couple of months now, we love it’s Heaven 17 Disco vibe and ever since we were teased with Edwin Van Cleef’s reMix in his May mixtape it has been on out list of ‘things we really need to hear’.

So here it is, and it doesn’t disappoint. Cleefy brings it deep and smooth with an uplifting sunrise Disco version of Might Mouse’s first single as a full band.. There’s a nice amount of space in Edwin’s mix, it’s not cluttered or over layered, it’s got an infectious groove and gives the tune room to breathe. The distant guitar licks and and Tropical percussion conjure a relaxed vibe that presents the vocals in a new light. The whole song has a totally different, but complimentary, feel to the original.

Rogue Vogue

Rogue Vogue is a project from Chicago’s Thomas Mountebank who has just burst into view with two storming tracks set to funk you over.

Combining classic Chicago House sounds with Nu-Disco grooves and a funky feeling both Rouge Vogue’s tunes are laidback head nodders that are impossible to ignore. ‘Sunshine’n’ is a re-interpretation of Roy Ayers’ ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’ and brings a chilled House piano and a spacey Funk vibe to the immediately recognisable vocals while ‘Breeze’ takes The Isley Brothers’ ‘Summer Breeze’ as it’s base and drags it kicking and screaming to the Disco as smooth summer jam with a touch of Chicago Acid.
