It’s been a while since we’ve had a new original tune from Dutch Disco wizard Auxiliary Tha Masterfader, a string of awesome reMixes recently, sure, but originals? It’s been a while. Now the man has hooked up with Mason’s record label, Animal Language, to release his storming new single. It’s called Feel About U, and it’s out this week. Hold tight for the bouncy synth groove.
Aux wastes no time hitting us up with a powerfully infectious walking bassline. Simple and effective, the bass worms it’s way into your head, setting up residence while Feel About U unleashes some massive, soulful vocal samples and lush vintage synths. Aux switches up between thick retro chords and tight leads, creating a multi-layers nostalgia fest. There’s nothing frantic about this one, a mid-tempo, laid-back, Disco burner perfect for chilling to on hot summer evenings.
♫ Auxiliary Tha Masterfader – Feel About U (Original Mix)
Auxiliary Tha Masterfader’s Feel About U is out now.
After premièring it on their recent Music To Show Aliens When They Land On Earth mixtape, Du Tonc (the globe trotting team-up of Matt Van Schie and MiGHty mOUse) have unleashed their the surprise tune from that mix. A reMix of Pixies late 80s/early 90s Indie club staple; Monkey Gone To Heaven. As a prelude to their forthcoming new single, released later this month, this reMix is bound to keep you going for a while.
Effortlessly blending a bit of Indie nostalgia (if you like that sort of thing) with their magical Tropical Disco sound, Du Tonc strip down most of the original, keeping a few grooves and vocal snatches, but manage to hold onto Monkeys Gone To Heaven‘s feel with Matt Van Schie’s trademark Disco dream basslines and the waves of lush synths and wicked little licks we expect from these two. It’s a track the you can’t help but smile about, particularly if you’re familiar with the original. Summer goodness right here.
Norwegian producer Lindstrøm’s current single, the Grace Hall featuring Home Tonight, was release back in February and we loved it. Now, a couple of months later, there’s a brand new video for the track.
The video was directed by Petter Tangmyr the clip features Hall getting up to shenanigans in Los Angeles.

Ready for another ten minute Cosmic Disco freak out from the wonderful Mr. Todd Terje? Ever the tasteful lot, the crew over at Ninja Tune have called on the Norwegian groovemeister to reMix Oban, the new 12” from freeform eight piece Jaga Jazzist. Actually, they all hail from Oslo, so are probably homies and hang out and brap all the time. Todd really indulges himself on this cut, so settle in and enjoy.
Stripping most out of the Jazz out of the equation, Todd rides the breakbeat with waves of space age synths; making the reMix a Norwegian Disco epic with an old school Hip Hop feel. An undulating symphony of burbles and swooshes that jokey for attention over a hypnotic walking bassline. Punctuated by rousing string section, this is everything you look for in a Terje track. Tundra Disco at it’s finest.

Tensnake’s vinyl leaning True Romance is one of our favourite labels right now. We’re avid collectors of their 12”s, each one an analog Disco Boogie gem. One such gem was the laid back retro Disco sounds of New York trio Tim Wagner, Nick Chacona and Amy Douglas, A.K.A. Sunrise Highway,’s self-titled début EP, fist seen in May last year. Now calling themselves Sunrise HWY (presumably for legal reasons) they are revisiting the slick release with an accompanying reMix package that sees Tiger & Woods and Tuff City Kids take on some of the EP’s sweetest tunes.
We weren’t able to pick our favourite of the reMixes, so here’s three for you to wrap your listening gear around. the formidable Larry Tiger & David Woods work their analog Disco magic on Some Kinda’ Fool, sounding not unlike a track from Tensnake’s own Glow, the track liberally spreads a pumping synth bassline over cowbell led Disco beats and heavily filtered snatches of the original’s groove. Germany’s Tuff City Kids choose to tackle two of the EP’s tunes; their version of Never Enough is an 808 heavy slice of synthetic House that pairs robotic Electro sounds with spine tingling piano House that works perfectly with Amy’s big diva vocals. Compass Point emerges from Tuff City Kids grasp with a Euro Disco feel, loaded with warm machine beats and spacey keys to compliment the track wicked Disco lick. The whole release is a joyous excursion into synthesizer Disco, B-Boy beats, summertime vibes and pure Boogie brilliance. We can’t wait to get our hands on the black plastic.
