Anoraak reMixes sayCet

SayCet

The almighty Anoraak are back with a brand new reMix for Parisian Indie/ElectroPop/Experimental/Downtempo trio sayCet.

Keeping the downtempo feel to the track, Anoraak brings his retro ElectroPop sounds to this slow jam creating at track that is both a head nodding Electro tune and something that is quite ethereal and dreamlike. The tempo actually make it sound more ’80’s than a lot of Anoraak’s previous work, if that’s even possible. This is pretty much the ultimate chill out track for synth lovers.

The Sanfernando Sound

Jason Sieu Persad A.K.A. The Sanfernando Sound is representing for Manchester in this thing we call Electro.

You may thing already know Jason’s sound from tracks like ‘Wonky Girl’ and ‘Dominatrix’ in the last couple of years, a hard Electro-House sound with killer basslines and chainsaw leads, but, although his tunes have lost none of their balls, these days The Sanfernando Sound is an altogether smoother and groovier beast. ‘On The Catwalk’ was actually written for a fashion show and is a meeting of TSS’s funkier and harder edged sides with a strong mid-80’s Art Of Noise-esq vibe to it. ‘Disconnect U’ is a slick slick of Electro-Disco. Raw Digital funk with an 80’s Electro Soul vocal. Two tracks at the opposite ends of The Sanfernando Sound’s spectrum but proving the man is apt at both.

The Sanfernando Sound – On The Catwalk

The Sanfernando Sound – Disconnect U

Jason has devoted a lot of his time recently to pumping out some top quality reMixes. This reMix of Plastic Operator’s ‘Singing All The Time’ is apparently three years old but only recently got an official single release, it’s a bass heavy Electro track loaded with 8-bit noises. It does kinda’ sound three years old but it’s still banging. For a more recent sample of The Sanfernando Sound’s sound check his reMix of Anoraak’s ’Crazy Eyes’, an deep ElectroPop track with a rolling analog bass like tunder.

Tape Warm

Tape Warm describe them selves as “new school disco analog”, how cool is that?

This new Brazilian duo have just released their début single, ‘Silver Copy’ and it’s full of heavy synth bass and a solid analog groove. I gotta’ say, I have a real love for analog sounding instrumental electronic music, especially if it sounds recorded on tape too, it reminds me of the electronic music I grew up with and manages to sound synthesized and robotic yet warm and organic at the same time. Tape Warm totally fits the bill here and wrap it all up in a rad cosmic Disco package. This is what the future sounded like in the late 70’s, and it can still take you away now!

♫ Tape Warm – Silver Copy (Original Mix)

Check out their reMix of Anoraak’s ‘Crazy eyes’ too, they really give it the 70’s Disco vibe!

Pacific! & Anoraak

Get your ears round the new reMix of Pacific!’s ‘Unspoken’ by Valerie’s top player Anoraak.

‘Unspoken’, taken from Pacific!’s amazing sophomore album, Narcissus, is getting a single release backed with reMixes from the likes of Santiago & Bushido, Moonlight Matters, Alex Gopher & Pierrick Devin and this Anoraak mix. Taking El Perro Del Mar’s vocals, that tell the story of  Echo, who is rejected by the vain Narcissus and left pining for him, but with her love unanswered, she slowly withers away until only her voice is left, and putting it to Anoraak 80’s flavoured Electro works seems a stroke of genius. Anoraak’s smooth tunes are already soundtrack inspired so seem to flow perfectly with a narrative track like this.

Some Anoraak reMixes

As you probably know, French ElectroPop guru and Valerie main man Anoraak is currently running a reMix competition over on SoundCloud featuring the track ‘Crazy Eyes’.

We’ve got a couple of our favourites right here for you. Egotomb produce this amazing, electronic organ based, ElectroPop track that has a certain atmospheric quality to it that we can’t help but find compelling. Mr. Mæn, on the other hand, turns in a deep and chilled retro, almost Dreamwave, House mix with a laidback Disco bassline. It’s an almost perfect example of mid-temo House with some of the sweetest pad you’ll ever hear.

Anoraak & Sally Shapiro

French retro synth master Frederic Riviere A.K.A. Anoraak has finally dropped his début album, ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’, and it’s awesome.

It’s everything you’d expect from the long time officer in the Valerie army. Dreamy ElectroPop meets 80’s teen movie soundtrack. Here we can sample for you an alternate mix of the track ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ featuring the vocals of repeat Anoraak collaborator and Italo/Pop heroine Sally Shapiro. Pure bliss!

Anoraak Vs. Neon Indian: Chillwave Vs. Dreamwave

Neon Indian is re-releasing his critically acclaimed album of last year ‘Psychic Chasms’ as a deluxe edition complete with reMix CD.

The disk features work from the likes of Yacht, Dntel and this reMix of the title track from Valerie staple and all round retro synth genius Anoraak. It’s an interesting study on two different approaches to SynthPop, the original’s dreamy Lo-Fi psychedelia against Anoraak’s 80’s looking, Nu-Disco flavoured, chilled ElectroPop.
