Futuristic Retro Champions

Futuristic Retro Champions are a Glasgow based Indie-Electro four piece who are gearing up for the release of their début double A-side, ‘May The Forth’/’Settle Down’.

And, frankly, it’s pretty rad. These three girls and one guy’s particular brand of ElectroPop, with it’s heavy Indie-electro pounding counterpointed with sparkling 80’s sounding  lead lines, is catchy as hell and toped of with vocals with an adorable Scottish twang. The production is pretty huge too, allowing these cute little ElectroPop tracks to evolve into epic, emotive power tracks.

Check ‘em out:

LexiconDon & NightWaves

We’ve got another reMix of LexiconDon’s awesome ‘December Sunset’, a track we’ve featured a couple of times already, this time by label mates NightWaves.

NW’s Josh and Kyle give the track more of an organic groove. Less electronic sounding, more sounding like a jam. Sweeping synths are replaced with organs giving the track a live music feel. The original is one of the best ElectroPop tracks of the year so far and this reMix takes it into the ‘best Pop song’ category too.

Still can’t kill the Simmons rolls though!

LexiconDon – December Sunset (NightWaves reMix)

Be sure to check out the original track too right here.

If you’re fans of Binary records and that sweet LA SynthPop sound then keep it locked to electronic rumors in the coming weeks, we have a pretty special Binary even planned for y’all!

The album, ‘Pink + Blue’ is due to drop 24th August on dubFrequency/Binary.

Active Child reMixed by Classixx

Can you even get a smoother jam than this?

Slinky, that’s probably the best way to describe LA team Classixx’s reMix of fellow LA songwriter Pat Grossi A.K.A. Active Child’s latest track, ‘When Your Love Is Safe’. It’s like mid-80’s R&B had a head on collision with Dreamwave in a Roland drum machine rimshot testing facility. And the crowd clapped on…

Oh the chimes!

Active Child’s album, ‘Curtis Lane’ is out now.

Robyn’s new video

Oh look, Robyn’s doing something badass again!

Heh, the official video for the forthcoming ‘Hang With Me’ single has premiered, and although it’s pretty much just following Robyn and her crew around on promotional tours it’s really nicely shot and seems to work amazingly well with the song, which is a sweet, uplifting, SynthPop ballad.

‘Hang With Me’ is taken from the ‘Body Talk Pt. 2’ album and is out 5th September.

New I Am Noxious track

Why isn’t Mr. T signed yet? It’s pretty baffling.

Well, as long as he hasn’t got a record label breathing down his neck he’s gonna’ keep letting me share his tracks with you lot!

His latest I Am Noxious track, ‘Flashback Tears’ may be his best yet, despite the underlying melancholy in his music this track is surprisingly uplifting. this track sounds like it’s moving slightly away from his usual Bedroom Pop style in to an almost Passion Pit/Miike Snow Indie-Electro territory, but with more of a cheeky British edge.

I Am Noxious – Flashback Tears

I’m sure Mr. T has got some more sweet Pop up his sleeve, keep it locked to his MySpace.

HURTS new ‘Wonderful Life’ video

HURTS have just premiered the new video for the single release of ‘Wonderful Life’ and it’s pretty funny.

In a massive self-referencing in-joke the video appears to be a wake, morning the loss of the crazy dancing lady from the original ‘Wonderful Life’ video, complete with a troupe of veiled dancing girls replicating her moves.

Goodbye crazy dancing lady, you will be sorely missed…

The ‘Wonderful Life’ single drops 23rd August.

Vince Clarke reMixes Goldfrapp’s new single

SynthPop legend and all-round synth guru Vince Clarke has reMixed Goldfrapp’s third single from their ‘Head First’ album, ‘Believer’.

The Depeche Mode/Yazoo/The Assembly/Erasure pioneer has gone seriously retro on the track which could easily be ‘2nd album era’ Yazoo, with a syncopated bassline that’s so 80’s it’s amazing! It’s a really cool reMix that sounds retro with out sounding ‘old’.

Goldfrapp – Believer (Vince Clarke reMix (Edit))

Vince is currently in his Cabin studio with Any Bell working on new Erasure material, if this reMix is an indication of the musical mood he’s we could be in for a treat.

‘Believer’ is released 7th September on Mute with reMixes from Vince Clarke, Subway, Joris Voorn and Davide Rossi.

The Good Natured reMixed by Get People

With the release of The Good Natured awesome ‘your Body Is A Machine’ pushed back to August a few more reMixes are in order to tide you over!

Get People drop a piano driven atmospheric mix that at times boarders on Dubstep but retains a chilled Electro feel throughout. Glad they kept the song structure too, it’s a great track and it’s nice to hear it reMixed but still coherent.

‘Your Body Is A Machine’ is now released 30th August on Kitsuné Music

La Roux guests for Skream

Dubstep innovator Skream will be releasing his second album, ‘Outside the Box’ on Tempa later in August and after he helped propel La Roux into dancefloor superstardom it seems only fair that they return the favour by appearing on one of his tracks.

‘Finally’ is a deep string led moody track with a vaguely eastern feel to it. I gotta’ say, heavy sub works really well with Elly Jackson’s voice, the highs and lows really complimenting each other.
