Miami Horror feature Kimbra on new album

The Miami Horror album is out soon! Less than a month until the release of Melbourne’s Electro-Disco-Pop gurus long awaited LP, ‘Illumination’.

‘I Look To You’, from the album, features the vocal work of New Zealand based up and coming singer/songwriter Kimbra. It’s a total summer party jam (let’s hope the weather hold up ‘til the album’s out!), full-on Balearic Disco with some massive horns topped of with Kimbra’s amazingly sweet vocals.

Visitor reMix the hell out of Amy Meredith

Visitor are musically going from strength to strength, this reMix of Aussie IndiePop act Amy Meredith’s forthcoming single ‘Young At Heart’ is almost indescribably good.

Epic is the best word to describe it. the vocals are so perfectly matched to Visitors music that is sounds like it should have always been like this. What’s been created is an awesome slice of 80’s influenced, but forward looking, ElectroPop that is not only hands down better than the original but one of the best ElectroPop tracks of the year.

Pure. Dreamwave. Gold.

Eat More Cake

Eat More Cake are a four piece from London who take in an eclectic array of influences to create their down-tempo electronica.

It’s a synth bass in their new single ‘Has To Be Done’ that really hooked me in. The track is a strange beast that waits until you’re comfortable with your impressions of it then flips out on you. Spanning Synth-Rock, Indie-Pop and ElectroPop in one song sounds like a feat, but Eat More Cake pull it off with slickness and a smooth male/female vocal duet.

Chromeo’s ‘Don’t Turn The Lights On’ video

Chromeo have premiered the video for their smooth-as-silk new single ‘Don’t Turn The Light’s On’ and it’s a pretty creepy looking clip, all eyes and teeth!

Directed by Keith Schofield the video has a weird 80’s crazies thing going on with some pretty humorous moments. Check it out:

Moneypenny

The two hot girls in the picture are Moneypenny, a Chicago based ElectroPop duo who are continuing the ElectroClash tradition but bringing it into the 21st Century.

I always felt there was something lacking in ElectroClash (aside from it being a parody of itself), but Moneypenny seem to hand pick the best elements and wrap them up in some contemporary ElectroPop. The end result is sassy, sexy and straight up dancefloor.

Check out their latest track, ‘Cool & The Gang’, which has that ElectroClash feel but musically combines elements of ElectroPop, French Electro-House, Electro Funk and even a little Acid up in there to create something that feels a lot more relevant than ElectroClash ever did.

Little Loud

UK Instrumental Electro producer Little Loud has been racking up a few big name reMixes under his belt in recent months, Memory Tapes, Au Revoir Simone and HEALTH have all been giving the Little Loud treatment.

As well as just completing an awesome reMix for Yeasayer , in which he turns ‘Madder Red’ into a cosmic Disco epic, Little Loud is right now working on his original, solo, material. One of the first fruits of this work is this instrumental cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In The Dark’. Little Loud’s intricate, bright, synth work is pretty standout, the guy is defiantly carving out a unique sound for himself.

Champagne Riot

Champagne Riot are a Danish duo, comprised of Caspar Bock and Anders Reuter, who make wonderful melodramatic Electro Indie-Pop.

Their début single is being released in September and if you give it a listen (128kbps previews below) you will find a swirling mass of 80’s sounding Pop. Uplifting and bombastic in that way only 80’s Pop ever was, there’s more than a little Erasure in these tracks, the production and arrangement is incredibly sophisticated. Most of all though, Champagne Riot are fun Pop music, but intelligent in a way that makes you forget about any rubbish chart music ever released and reinstates your love of the pure Pop song.

Ellie and her Friends Electric

New Single ‘The Writer’ isn’t the first time Welsh Indie-ElectroPop outfit Friends Electric have reMixed Ellie Goulding. Their Mix of ‘Under The Sheets’ made our top 20 songs of 2009 and they have come on in leaps and bounds since then, both in popularity and production.

Their new mix couldn’t have been easy, it’s an awesome song but I can’t imagine it lends itself well to reMixing. But the lads have risen to the challenge and dropped this chilled summery dance track, almost Balearic in places (this is a real sunrise tune!) that still highlights Ms. Goulding’s stunning vocals.

Midnight Conspiracy chill out Tiga’s ‘What you Need’

Those crazy Chicago kids Midnight Conspiracy are at it again! So soon after their Crystal Castles reMix and just in time for his Lollapalooza performance they turn in this synthtastic reMix of Tiga’s hit of last year ‘What You Need’

This is pure retro brilliance that takes a completely different tack to the multitude of similar noisy Electro-House reMixes out there, and indeed the distorted synths of the original. Rather that churn out another huge banger Midnight Conspiracy have made a masterpiece of pure 80’s ElectroPop that is much more fitting with the chilled vibe of this summer and actually compliments the vocals better than any of the other reMixes…or the original.

This is how it should have sounded all along!

Night Gallery

SynthPop duo Night Gallery are about to release their début album ‘Constant Struggle’. Made up of Golden Birthday’s Adam Griffiths and Aaron David Ross from ace Electronica act GATEKEEPER, who brings some of GATEKEEPERS moodiness to the tracks, this Chicago based outfit

It’s a really 80’s affair. Without nods to current retro fads, Night Gallery create quite an authentic retro Pop sound which dispute the minor chords and brooding sounds manages to be quite uplifting (in the same way that martin Gore’s songs seem to be). Their press release compares them to Clan Of Xymox, which is actually a pretty good description, albeit with a lot less guitars, slightly less gothyness and a lot more contemporary sounding.
