Holy Ghost!’s ‘Hold My Breath’ reMixes

Holy Ghost!

Out today on DFA is Holy Ghost! reMix package for ‘Hold My Breath’, one of our favourite tracks from their storming self-titled début album.

Tiger & Woods deliver a synth Funked up with a touch of Acid and a hypnotic groove. Laden with ‘80’s Electro stabs and clocking in at just under ten minutes the track is almost a meditation on dance. Cosmic Kids’ deep Disco take on the tune is full of ominous analog synths, but keeps the tune at it’s Poppy core amidst all the moody warehouse sounds. To be honest, neither is a patch on the original, but do make a nice compliment.

Young Digerati cover Monster Mash

As you’ll well be aware it’s Halloween this weekend, and to get your spirits up (was that a joke? I’m not convinced) Bay Area ElectroPop fourpeice Young Digerati have only gone and covered Bobby Pickett’s ‘Monster Mash’ haven’t they!

Honestly, there’s not a lot you can say about this really. It’s the Monster Mash with some nice synths, it sounds exactly like you’d expect, and it’s a lot of fun. So stick this on for your synth Halloween weekend while you’re working your way up to some John Carpenter.

Aminova

Aminova

We received quite an enigmatic email from producer Aminova, so we honestly don’t know much about him. But that’s fine, this is a case when letting the music do that talking works on every level.

He’s recently released a new EP, ‘The Transfer’ which contains three tracks of synthesizer brilliance. While he does have a lot in common with his SynthWave contemporaries, Aminova, despite his tracks having solid beats, isn’t as dancefloor oriented at his peers, the tune on the EP are more focused on the musical aspects of SynthWave than merely making a crowd move. Layers of intertwining synthetic melodies weave around his songs like smoke, morphing into one another to create a densely layered electronic dream. there’s two things going on here really, there’s the ‘80’s electronic movie soundtrack thing, which Aminova does well, capturing emotion with every melody, and an experimental wall of noise thing, which compliment each other surprisingly well producing a sound that is both beautiful and slightly disorienting.

Aminova – Turn Invisible

Aminova’s ‘The Transfer’ EP and his previous ‘Laser Beach’ EP are available for free on Bandcamp, his ‘Busy Lives/The Way Home’ single was released by Playmaker.

Cadillac’s self-titled EP out now

Cadillac

Australian Indie-Electro/DiscoPop/Chillwave trio Cadillac’s self-titled EP is out now on Future Classic.

The whole record just oozes summery good times. A Slick mash-up of Disco licks and Drums with Synth Funk bass and retro keys. Add a hint of Indie-Electro guitar and some of the coolest, evocative songs you’ve heard in a while and you’ve got a killer EP. This is ‘80’s aspirational stuff, beaches and the best that include both friends and a flecked suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Tesla Boy’s Anton Sevidov even makes an appearance at the party, you know you’re cool when that happens!

♫ Cadillac – Dreams

♫ Cadillac (Feat. Tesla Boy) – Make You Feel

Cadillac – High For Me

Cadillac’s self-titles EP is out now as a double 12” featuring reMixes from The Miracles Club, Prince Rama, Marcos Cabral, Ray Mang, Daniel Bortz and Sun Glitters, or as a split digital EP, originals and reMixes.

Le Prix reMixes Queen Of Hearts

queen-of-hearts1

Queen Of Hearts is so down with the Swedish SynthPop crew, and rightly so, she fits right in with a country where ElectroPop has always had a home (even when certain other countries forced it underground).

So, Stockholm DiscoPop producer Le Prix has worked his magic on ‘Shoot The Bullet’. It’s actually not what we were expecting from him, but infectious nonetheless. More raw, more live sounding, than you’d think of when considering Le Prix, his reMix delves deep into a rough and tumble version of late ‘70’s synthesizer Disco. It’s like a party in an analog synth factory, and everyone’s invited!

Little Boots’ ‘Shake Until Your Heart Breaks’ Mixtape

littleboots

Little Boots – Shake Until Your Heart Breaks Mixtape = Boots is back! Well, not really, not yet, but let’s hope this mixtape is a precursor to her welcome return. The best thing about this 40 mins ElectroPop/Italo/DiscoPop odyssey, is that it includes a brand new Little Boots track, unsurprisingly titled ‘Shake Until Your Heart Breaks’, which proves that unlike her fellow electro-women-class-of-‘07 alumni, our Miss Hesketh hasn’t lost the synthesizer faith.
