Rox

Rox

Rox is a 22 year old half Jamaican, half Iranian singer/songwriter currently signed to Rough Trade and making waves on the live music scene.

Her forthcoming single ‘I Don’t Believe’ has had reMix treatments from the Electro-House and Dubstep ends of the electronic music spectrum by Don Diablo and Landlord respectively. Diablo’s take on the track builds, on top of the Roots elements, a 2-step Electro track that will have you groovin’ wherever you hear it while Landlord expertly crafts a deep, dark bass monster.

I gotta’ say, the Don Diablo mix is one of my favourite tracks of the week!

Rox’s début album, ‘Memoirs’ is out soon and her current single ‘My Baby Left Me’ is available now.

Don’t Wait Animate reMixes

DontWaitAnimate

We posted about Don’t Wait Animate a while back, their post-Nu-Rave Indie-Dub-Electro thing is pretty unique. A jagged inner city mash-up of styles and influences.

The London 5 piece have dropped by the electronic rumors Inbox to big up a couple of reMixes of their début single, ‘6174’. The Dirty Disco deliver something special, completely deconstructing the track and building it back up into a dancefloor ElectroPop smash with some heavy heavy beats and more than a couple of nods to Dubstep as does Coin Operated Boy’s 8-bit noise rave.

New Pony Pony Run Run single!

PonyPonyRunRun02

Amazing French Indie-ElectroPopsters Pony Pony Run Run return next month with a long awaited new single ‘Waling On A Line’. It’s a, frankly, brilliant slice of Indie-Electro that deserves all kinds of attention this summer.

There are loads of reMixes lined up for the reMix package, the stand out really has to be Lifelike’s stellar return to form with his summertime part reMix, so smooth the synths seem to melt together, all 7m50s of it is brilliant. For darker take on the tune check out French Fries’ Dubstep workout with downpitched vocals while Blatta & Inesha deliver a straight up wonky banger.

MartyParty

MartyParty

Some San Francisco based Dubstep for you now, courtesy of The Confluence Group, in the form of MartyParty.

He describes himself as IDM based Hip Hop, which actually might be more apt considering some of the things going on in his sonic landscape, but it’s still Dubstep, and some pretty fine Dubstep it is too! Intricate sounds filter in and out and give way to aggressive leads throughout his original track ‘Shorty’, but his reMix of The XX’s ‘Infinity’ is the real standout here with all the elements you want from a storming Dubstep tune.

Jakwob reMixes Audio Bullys

AudioBullys

Jakwob has gone and got his dirty little Dubstep hands on Audio Bullys forthcoming single ‘Only Man’

Probably the hottest Dubstep reMixer around right now, Jakwob totally flips it with a retro 80’s lead line over his usual brand of dark synth Dub.

‘Only Man’ is released 22nd March and also includes a reMix from Reset!

Nocturnal Sunshine

NocturnalSunshine

Maya Jane Coles, 50% (and main production force) of the wonderful Dubstep duo She Is Danger, is ready to unveil her new project, Nocturnal Sunshine, in the form of this track ‘Dirty Secret’, a blog first right here!

The track is big, warping, bass injection, combining elements of Dubstep, chilled Electronics and Tech-House. Dark, atmospheric and erotic, ‘Dirty Secret’ drags the deep ‘Fetish House’ of the late 1990’s kicking and screaming into 2010, forcing it to submit to the bass.

Maya manages to take snippets of may different styles of Electronic music and wrap them all up with a heavy, heavy, Dub bow, as you can hear from these two other examples of her work. ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’, a solo tune, mashes more traditional Dub with a 4/4 beat resulting in a late night (early morning?) chilled carnival anthem, while back with She Is Danger, this cover of Eurythmics’ ‘Whose That Girl?’ is an absolute killer. She Is Danger’s subby Dubstep seems a perfect fit for this track!

Maya has been fairly prolific for a 23 year old with reMixes for the likes of Massive Attack, Groove Armada, MSTRKRFT & Ellie Goulding and releases under a number of different aliases.

Esser’s ‘Headlock’ reMixed by Midnight Conspiracy

Esser

Esser’s ‘Headlock’ is getting on a bit now, but it was a good tune, so it’s nice to see it brought back to life by Chicago’s Midnight Conspiracy.

We previously featured their reMix of Chromeo’s ‘Night By Night’, this time it’s not the Dreamwave road they are travelling, oh no. Here, they treat us to some real deep dark Dubstep, and it works so well! Midnight Conspiracy lay down some throbbing subs to rival anything coming out of Bristol or LDN!

So we’ve had Dreamwave/Italo and Dubstep, pretty exited to hear what Midnight Conspiracy tackle next!

XI

Some late night Dubstep for you right about now courtesy of Torontonian producer XI who’s about to drop a new EP on Bristol’s Immerse Records.

‘000’ and it’s flip side ‘Slippin’’ are two heavy bass monsters with a nod to the Electro side of things, both delivering warped, evolving Electronics over some killer subs.

She Is Danger out-Dub Massive Attack

MassiveAttack

Massive Attack’s long awaited new album, ‘Heligoland’, drops on 8th February. Normally a new Massive Attack album is something to look forward to, but I think I am more so this time as it features a couple of tracks featuring vocals by Martina Topley-Bird, one of my favourite vocalists.

‘Girl I Love You’ isn’t one of them, but it has been given a heavy, heavy, Dub reMix by She Is Danger, who we have featured a couple of times before. Our favourite Dubstep girls play an almost flawless Dub game with slight Industrial overtones. Horace Andy’s recognisable vocals just ride what could be and old school Massive Attack track itself (albeit slightly more Electronic sounding). London? Are we sure these girls aren’t from Bristol?

If you’re into heavy beats and bass in any way She Is Danger are defiantly one outfit to keep an eye on!

Don’t Wait Animate

Something a little different again, this time in the shape of Don’t Wait Animate, a new, post-Nu-Rave, Indie-Electro act from East London.

Seemingly carving out a new genre all of their own they are kinda’ like Hadouken! with less shouting and more songs, and more influenced by Dubstep rather than The Prodigy. Rimshot Dub beats and noisy electronics provide a base for jagged guitars and socially aware vocals in their forthcoming single “6174” released in April on Barhouse Records.

The band have already jumped at the chance to reMix band-of-the-moment Delphic’s amazing ‘Doubt’, turning it into a heavy, heavy, Dubstep monster!

Delphic – Doubt (Don’t Wait Animate reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Don’t Wait Animate are running a reMix competition for their forthcoming release here.

Keep and eye on their MySpace for release details:
