Sam Hurlock and Joe Beverley direct this simple study in personality, which seems to work nicely with the track.

Here’s the video for Toro Y Moi current single So Many Details. An exercise in Chillwave and Nu-Funk from his new album Anything In Return.

[Audio] Pinemarten’s new single

Pinemarten

Falling For You is the forthcoming new single from Derbyshire’s finest Pinemarten. It’s been a few months since his I Can See EP but that’s not time wasted. Falling For You, and it’s B-side Built For Two, were recorded between September and November this year and have a particular autumnal feel.

It’s a track that features some of the sweetest synth solos we’ve heard in a while. While Falling For You’s core is a spacious, Funk fuelled, hazy soundscape, loaded with soulful drums, punchy digital bass, and reverb washed vocals, it;s when those solos kick in that the song is taken to the next level. Truly soaring stuff. The single is due for release later this month backed with two reMixes.

Pinemarten’s Falling For You is released 17th December.

[MP3] Monarchy & Dita Von Teese reMixed by MiGHty mOUse

Monarchy & Dita Von Tease

It;s been a while since we heard from one of the best ElectroPop act to emerge in the last few years. About a year in fact, but Monarchy have been holed up in the studio and are ready to start unleashing new material. The first new single from the duo is the recently announced collaboration with goth muse Dita Von Teese titled Disintegration, and the guys have just dropped a reMix of the track by none other than London Disco wizard  MiGHty mOUse.

If you were looking for some low-down synthetic Funk topped with a dramatic vocal, you’ve come to the right place. MiGHty mOUse get back to his squelchy Disco roots with an energetic, infectious bassline, twisting little riffs and some vintage strings, bringing a whole new level of 70s flair to the vocals. Seriously, this reMix is so addictive we defy anyone not to start nodding their head at least, the prefect combination of Disco, Funk and Monarchy’s ElectroPop. The track is a guaranteed dancefloor rocker and just us just a little insight into what’s to come from Monarchy.

Monarchy & Dita Von Teese’s Disintegration is released in January alongside a video shot by Roy Raz.

[Video] Father Tiger’s ‘On Christmas Day’

On Christmas Day is La SynthPop outfit Father Tiger’s contribution to the X-Mas cheer. It’s a wonderfully upbeat slice of electronic melancholy, which all the best X-mas tunes are.

There’s a nice video too which, for a free single, looks a hell of a lot better than some videos from major artists.

[Video] Dragonette’s ‘Merry Xmas (Says Your Text Message)’

Here’s the video for Canadian Indie-Electro crew Dragonette’s raucous X-Mas single, Merry Xmas (Says Your Text Message).

It’s a bit cheeky using a lyric video (which no-one really likes) as an official video, a bit cheap too, but it is nicely animated. Just a bit disappointing that Dragonette couldn’t make the effort, and the label didn’t have the faith in them to spend the money, to make a proper videos. It is fun, for what it’s worth, we just hate lyric videos.

Dragonette’s Merry Xmas (Says Your Text Message) is out now.

[MP3] G.L.O.V.E.S. reMixes Sun City

Sun City

Perth Indie new-comers Sun City certainly know how to pick their reMixers. The seems to be working through a who’s-who of Australian electronic music talent. First it was Disco demon SHAZAM!, then the king of down-under SynthWave Jordan F unleashed his version of their track Zoetrope, now Aussie Nu-Disco legend G.L.O.V.E.S. has whipped up their new tune, Horizon’ into a smooth beach-party tune.

Apparently the reMix was inspired by the current climate in Australia, by “the last month of beach raves, boat parties, rooftop pools & balmy evenings”, which makes us insanely jealous as, being in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s pretty chilly here. But G.L.O.V.E.S. brings a little of that sunshine vibe to our foggy winter morning with a slick, laid-back, groove. Dropping in hints of the original’s vocals amongst wicked Disco licks and warm 70s synth sounds G.L.O.V.E.S. a sexy House tinged Nu-Disco tune that we’ll be saving up for our summer.

[Video] Goin’ Old School: Humanoid, Thompson Twins & Krush

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

‘Cos we’re approaching X-Mas, let’s get some TOTP on! Here’s Humanoid’s Stakker Humanoid from 1988, still one of the toughest riffs ever produced.

After a brief chart interlude, here’s Thompson Twins’s 1984 hit Lay Your Hands On Me.

One of the greatest tunes ever written, it’s House Arrest by Krush, from 1987.
