Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy soundtrack reMixed

You can’t move these days for reMixes of tracks from Daft Punk’s Tron:Legacy soundtrack, and quite honestly most of them are shit, which is a pity as the album itself is a work of art. Many people seemed shocked and upset that it didn’t sound like a new Daft Punk album but, really, what did they expect, it’s a soundtrack! If, like us, you dig soundtracks you’ll find Daft Punks OST an amazing mix of emotive score and electronics.

Anyway, here are a couple of actually really good reMixes that have come our way. DJ DLG drops a big noisy house mix of ‘Fall’ that could quite easily be massive on the dancefloor while still holding on to those strings to create a level of tension. Paris Electro guru DJ Aurélien Vialet gets ADD on ‘Derezzed’ creating tightly structured Electro choas. I’m still deciding about this kind of all-over-the-place Electro-House, sometimes it just sounds lazy, but when it’s done well, like Aurélien, it really rocks!

Daft Punk – Fall (DJ DLG Lazor Legacy Mix)

Daft Punk – Derezzed (Derezzonable reMix)

Nice injection of the original soundtrack too!

Feed Me

Feed Me is Deadmau5’ first external signing to his Mau5Trap label and the producer has an EP out at the start for next year titled ‘Feed Me’s Big Adventure’.

To build up the release Feed Me is giving away a special unreleased track ‘Jodie’ and it’s an odd mix of Fidget-House and retro synth lead lines. I’ve really got to be in the mood for Fidget, but when I am this track would totally fit the bill.

Edwin Van Cleef reMixes the hell out of Nelly Furtado

The man Edwin Van Cleef is one of the UK’s best unsung talents and a guy who doesn’t release nearly enough tunes to keep us happy!

Lucky for us, then, he’s dropped this massive reMix of Nelly Furtado’s new single ‘The Night Is Young’ just in time for X-mas. From it’s bouncy bassline to it’s huge chords and 80’s-esq melody line, this is Nu-Disco done perfectly buy one of the guys who helped shape the sound.

Enjoy:

autoKratz return with ‘Opposite Of Love’

London’s noisy ElectroPoppers autoKratz return in January with a brand new single, ‘Opposite Of Love’, and here we have the promo clip for it.

It’s an awesome comeback for the guys, a brooding yet poppy tune full of the buzzsaw synths we love autoKratz for. The track is taken from their forthcoming second (or third depending on how you view their releases) album ‘Self Help for Beginners’, due for release in March 2011.

The video was directed by Phil Moss.

‘Opposite Of Love’ is released 24th January,

Bright Light Bright Light covers the Twin Peaks theme

That right there is Sherilyn Fenn.

I’ll give you a moment…

OK then…why have I headed this post with a picture of Sherilyn Fenn? Well, I used to be pretty crazy about her back in the days when Twin Peaks was on the TV, ah those were the days…

So, kindly, Bright Light Bright Light have given me an excuse to whack Sherilyn on my blog as he’s only gone and covered the vocal version of the Twin Peaks theme tune. ‘Falling’ was originally released as a single by vocalist Julee Cruise and penned by the shows composer Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch and is surely one of those tunes that is embedded in the popular psyche.

Bright Light Bright Light’s cover is just as haunting as the original but ushers it into quite a contemporary SynthPop ballad that really shows off Rod’s vocal prowess.

Bright Light Bright Light – Falling (Julee Cruise, Angelo Badalamenti & David Lynch Cover)

Rod REALLY loves the 90’s!

Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘Love Part II’ is out now on PopJustice Hi-Fi.

07 Aeroplane – Superstar (The Krays reMix)
08 Vandroid – Master & Slave (Yuksek reMix)
09 Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Household Goods

12 Short Circuit – Let Go (Popskarr reMix)
13 Super Mal – Rock The Night (Diamond Cut reMix)

15 The Human League – Night People (Cerrone Club Mix)
16 OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark) – Sister Marie Says (Monarchy Twin Galaxies reMix)

Don’t forget my mince pie and glass of port!

EDIT: Well, for the sake of less than 30 seconds of a Daft Punk track in a mix which is, arguably, promoting their music, Walt Disney Records/Universal Music’ have seen fit to kill Pop-Fu 08.Seems a bit pathetic singling this mix out for infringement when a simple search of SoundCloud would reveal (at this time ) at least six illegal uploads of the whole track, but who are we to question the insane logic of a major record label. So Pop-Fu 08 is dead (and, not that I’m that bothered, but the play stats and comments too), lovg live Pop-Fu 08 (Redux)!Yes, it’s the same mix with the offending track removed and a whopping great fade in! I suppose you could pretend the intro is not longer made up of a Daft Punk track but a recording of John Cage’s 4’33”!

JBAG’s ‘X-Ray Sex’

January finally sees the release of Kitsuné DJs extraordinaire JBAG’s début artist single.

After numerous awesome reMixes and two essential mix albums (‘Kitsuné BoomBox’ and ‘Kituné X Ponystep’) the duo of Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino have teamed up with ex-Ping Pong Bitches frontwoman Louise Prey on ‘X-Ray Sex’.

First heard on the Kitsuné X Ponystep’ compilation, ‘X-ray Sex’ is a pretty stunning début, these two have cranked out some amazing reMixes and edits in the past few years and you can see how things were heading in this direction. Equal parts ElectroPop and House with a nice 80’s flavour (particularly in the bassline), it’s defiantly got a London vibe to it as well. For something a little heavier check the Jolie Cherie reMix which sounds like a mash-up between early 90’s House and some killer Electro bass!
