LexiconDon’s ‘December Sunset’ video

If you’re looking for something the humourless masses can get freaked out about in the new LexiconDon video you’re gonna’ be sorely disappointed.

After the internet got it’s collective blogging panties in a bunch over LD’s last video, ‘December Sunset’ holds no surprises. It is, however, a slick, interestingly filmed performance video that makes me wish that a) the weather was better and b) that LexiconDon would come tour the UK.

Check out LexiconDon’s album, ‘Pink + Blue’, out now on dubFrequency/Binary.

Parralox’s ‘Metropolis’ album

Australia’s beacon of pure SynthPop light in the darkness, Parralox, are releasing their third studio album this month.

‘Metropolis’ is a totally well crafted album that shows a definite progression in Parralox’s sound, slowly moving away from the generic Modern SynthPop (of which they were always better than the pack) to encompass more contemporary electronic music styles. Of course there is still shades of Depeche Mode et al in the mix, but this time around it all sound so much more fresh. This is an electronic Pop album that has come from the Modern SynthPop scene but can stand toe to toe with some of the greats of current ElectroPop or Indie-Electro, and that is a rare and special thing indeed.

Just check out ‘Don’t Listen To Me’, a top quality ElectroPop track that fuses twenty first century Electro production techniques with an 80’s influenced songwriting style that also nods toward Disco-Pop in a way that is pretty flawless. This could be the album that sees Parralox playing in the big leagues.

Parralox – Don’t Listen To Me

‘Metropolis’ is released 19th November.

Mirror People reMixes Serge Gainsbourg

Mirror People (House/Electronica producer Rui Maia) has worked his Moroder influence magic on French renaissance man Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Sea, Sex & Sun’.

Totally getting his Moog funk on, Rui is on a complete disco trip here, form the P-Funk bassline to the squelchy leads it seems to make a kinda’ backing for Serge being his usual dirty old man self!

Rimer London’s new single

It’s been a while since we last wrote about the mastermind behind Dutch ElectroPoppers Le Le Rimeroni Vumani A.K.A. Rimer London.

The man is following up last years solo EP ‘Innercity’ with a new album in the coming months preceded by this single we have right here. ‘Squaring the Triangle’ is a deep analog Disco journey with extra 70’s synth cool. From it’s pulsing bassline to it’s piano backed lead line there’s no glossy 21st century production here, this is old school synthesizer funk that’s both refreshing and ace to listen to.

Rimer London – Squaring The Triangle

‘Squaring The Triangle’ is set for release 21th October with reMixes from TWR72, Beesmunt and Awanto 3.

Florrie drops début EP

Bristol born Xenomania go-to girl Florrie dropped her début EP yesterday, both on iTunes and absolutely free on her website.

The ‘Introducing’ EP does just that. As a collection of four tracks, some we’ve heard before, some new, it’s a pretty good example of Florrie’s sound and where she seems to be going.

One of the new tracks on the EP is ‘Left Too Late’ which is, frankly, pretty amazing. It’s got everything you want in electronically produced Pop. Coming from the Xenomania camp you expect a certain level of quality Pop, but this is all Florrie’s work and is pretty stunning for a début, and a début without a label too. Having already turned down quite a few major label offered in favour of self-development I’m sure she’s going to be in a position to negotiate the perfect deal in the coming months.

Florrie – Left Too Late

If you like the tracks I strongly suggest throwing Florrie a few bucks and buying the EP, she’s gotta’ eat after all!

Hear The Human League’s new single, ‘Night People’

The Human League recently débuted their forthcoming new single ‘Night People’ at a live show in Berlin and luckily it was captured by audience members with cameraphones.

Taken from the album ‘Credo’, set for release in March 2011, the ‘Night People’ single will come with reMixes from Mylo, The Emperor Machine and Villa.

It’s not possible to fully judge the new single from this footage, but it does give a clue as to what we can expect.

I’m thinking there is a bit of a ‘Sound Of The Crowd’ vibe going on here. We’re defiantly looking forward to this release, and catching The League live next month.

Tribal Riot

We’re gonna’ kick off today with Leicester based Tribal Riot, an Indie-Electro outfit with a heavy sound.

Rising from the ashes of a punk band (as so many Electro-House acts do) they appear to have carried over that intensity into their new, synth based, direction. Mixing up Electro, Electro-House and Breakbeat Tribal Riot’s tracks utilise raw drums, distorted synths and the odd 8-bit sound with devastating effect. Check out ‘Awakening’, probably the most ‘musical’ of their crop, which manages to sound both rough ‘n’ ready and emotive.

Tribal Riot – Awakening

Tribal Riot have also turned in this cracking reMix of Kasabian’s ‘Vlad The Impaler’, which is pure banger.

Friends Electric’s new single reworked by The Dirty Tees

I caught Welsh Indie-Electro-Poppers Friends Electric recently with Fenech-Soler and Substatic, it’s an experience I can highly recommend, the guys were awesome live.

We’ve already dropped their forthcoming new single, ‘Golden Blood’, so how about a reMix by Canadians The Dirty Tees? I think ‘banger’ is the term used… Seriously, The Dirty Tees pull no punches and turn in a full on Electro-House monster only slightly tamed with some sweet strings.

Ill Collins & Beaumont drop the bit-crushed science

Highly underrated Aussie Nu-Disco producer Beaumont has teamed up with Ill Collins, who has an awesome name to indulge in some bit-crushed madness.

An EP is forthcoming, but this tune ‘Drane’ is a little extra gift that won’t be appearing on it. If it’s an indicator of how the EP will sound then we are in for a pretty gritty, thumping, treat. Beaumont has always had a soft spot for 8-bit sounds in his music but here he really lets himself go crazy. ‘Drane’ is a mid-tempo grinder that manages to bring a little Cosmic Disco feel to the Lo-Fi doom.

Ill Collins & Beaumont – Drane

Beaumont’s EP team up with Ill Collins should be out soon

As a side note I know absolutely nothing about who Ill Collins is, but maybe it should be noted though that his SoundCloud profile pic comes from Beaumont’s MySpace album, Beaumont’s 8-bit alter-ego perhaps? Maybe not, maybe he is some Mexican SID freak? Just sayin’…
