Night Plane reMix

NightPlane

Simon from THISISNOTANEXIT records dropped this track over on his Twitter feed, it’s an amazing reMix of ‘Wave Haze’ by Night Plane from his ‘Chinese Shadows’ 12”.

Hypnotic and atmospheric, it’s a smooth, almost BladeRunner-esq, soundtrack to the city at night. A crazy, chilled, mash up of Dreamwave, SynthPop and Electro Jazz that’s just made for staring out the car window at the street lights rushing past.

L-Vis 1990 reMix Delphic

Delphic03

Critically acclaimed Techno act L-Vis 1990 have reMixed, Indie-Electro band of the moment, Delphic’s forthcoming single ‘Halcyon’.

It’s given the a signature L-Vis 1990 grimy Techno/House sound with it’s huge cut up beats and heavy, heavy bass. This track just doesn’t quit!

New Penguin Prison single

Penguin Prison02

Like a tidal wave of awesomeness, more goodness comes crashing out of the Neon Gold camp.

In March Penguin Prison is releasing his new single ‘Something I’m Not’, which will be a double A-side with ‘The Worse It Gets’.

Slightly darker and dirtier than PP’s previous outing, but this is no bad thing. ‘Something I’m Not’ has a real raw electronic Pop sound, the song itself is expertly crafter modern pop but the use of rough sounding analog synths gives it that edge that works so well.

Bark Bark Disco

BarkBarkDisco

‘Bedroom Pop’ is how Bark Bark Disco describe their music‘, which is also literally how their forthcoming début album, ‘Your Mum Says Hello’, was recorded.

As you can tell from the track we have for you here, ‘Song For The Lovers’, the vibe is very lo-fi, very back to basics, just writing songs and having fun with music. Cheap drum machines, cheap synths and quirky vocals create a sound that you can’t help smiling at.

Fabian get new reMixes and a TNUC video!

Fabian

Fabian’s ‘Heatwave’ was originally featured on Binary’s excellent Dreamwave/SynthPop compilation ‘Binary Presents: LA Lights’, one of the standout tracks of the album, it was pure 80’s movie party scene montage soundtrack and created quite a bit of blog hype last year.

Now, not only are Binary dropping a superb reMix package but the track has been given the TNUC video treatment. TUNC is a video creator/editor, sometime reMixer, blogger from the 80’s(?) and all round purveyor of good taste, you can check the visuals he came up with for the track here.

The almighty, blog destroying, Russ Chimes contributes to the reMix line up and really excels himself with the bassline and soaring synth work he lays down. Also along for this night drive are Werewolf By Night, one of my personal favourite Dreamwave artists with an uplifting, ringing, feelgood take and Short Circuit who bring things straight back to the dancefloor with their cut up electro.

New Yes Giantess single!

YesGiantess

We loved Giantess, and now we love Yes Giantess, so we’re pretty stoked to hear they are releasing a new single, ‘The Ruins’, 8th March on Neon Gold.

The Boston band looks likely to have a huge year and this single is a great way to kick it off, perfectly delivering Yes Giantess’ brand of Indie-Disco yet pushing into the Pop spectrum. More dancefloor friendly, maybe due in part to having SynthPop producer extraordinaire Starsmith at the helm, YG have seamlessly blended New York style Indie-Electro with Dreamwave to create, what could well be, the sound of this summer.

Fear Of Tigers, Baby Monster, Clock Opera are rumoured to be stepping up for reMix duties, three names guaranteed to deliver the goods.

Sometimes it seems like all other record labels should just give up and let Neon Gold get on with it!

Cold Waves And Minimal Electronics Vol.1

EndOfData

I still don’t remember it ever being called ‘cold wave’ or ‘minimal synth’ but I am glad that the early pioneers of SynthPop are getting a bit of attention these past few months (and that the sound is being carried on by a new batch of artists!). Angular Recording Corporation has enlisted the help of two men who spearheaded this revival, Pieter Schoolwerth, founder of Wired Records and Angular’s own Joe Daniel to compile 17 tracks of classic Futurist Pop for their forthcoming ‘Cold Waves And Minimal Electronics Vol.1’.

Spanning 1981-1985 and digging out some severely rare 7”s and demo tapes the compilation perfectly captures the underground electronic sound of the early 80’s northern Europe. Check the track list:

01. Absolute Body Control – Figures
02. Nine Circles – Twinkling Stars
03. Linear Movement – Night In June
04. Opera Multi Steel – Ills S’eloigent
05. Bal Paré – Palais D’Amour
06. Eleven Pond – Watching Trees
07. The Vyllies – Babylon
08. End Of Data – Dans Votre Monde
09. The Actor – Lights
10. Ausgang Verboten – Consumer
11. Jeunesse D’Ivoire – A Gift Of Tears
12. OTO – Anyway
13. Ruth – Polaroïd/Roman/Photo
14. Stereo – Somewhere In The Night
15. The Neon Judgement – The Fashion Party
16. Land Of Giants – Cannibal Dolls
17. Days Of Sorrow – Travel

To give you a taste of what to expect I’ve dug into my archive to bring you two tracks that appear on the compilation. End Of Data’s ‘Dans Votre Monde’ from the LP of the same name and The Neon Judgement’s classic ‘The Fashion Party’, two amazing slices of raw, early electronic Pop.

Yuksek reMixes Gorillaz

Gorillaz

I do like a bit of Gorillaz when the mood takes me and I pretty much love Yuksek’s music whenever/wherever so this reMix combination is a tasty deal!

It doesn’t disappoint. Yuksek brings quite a mid-tempo Electro flavour, it’s like a chilled out version of one of his bangers complete with the customary Yuksek drops and builds.

Bear In Heaven

BearIn Heaven

Bear In Heaven are a Brooklyn based Indie/SynthPop quartet who make some epic emotional electronic sounds.

Combining exceptional songwriting with jangly guitars and laidback synth work, Bear In Heaven have an almost Electro shoegazey quality to their music that, after a few very successful live appearances, is causing a stir amongst the hipsters of New York.

Check out these tracks from their second album and get carried away with Bear In Heaven’s spaced out guitar-Electro.
