Rex The Dog – BREED Podcast 3 = The third mixtape to commemorate the launching of Rex’s new London clubnight BREED, this time mixed by Rex himself and it’s a storming 45 minuites of ElectroPop, Italo, electronic sounds.
Fear Of Tigers – The Guestlist 17/06/2011 = Rex The Dog invades the FOT studio this week for a chat about the past, present and future of all things Rex and about his new London clubnight Breed alongside Fear Of Tigers playing some massive slices of ElectroPop, Nu-Disco, Dreamwave and big room tunes.
I love Rex The Dog’s recent burbling Acid/ElectroPop reMixes, this reMix of Mason’s ‘Little Angel’ is the best so far.
It’s a deep 80’s jam at heart, the 808 and Acid bassline are pure Summer Of Love, but Rex has expertly layered over the top a shimmering and think ElectroPop tune. The result is a Moroder-esque DiscoPop tune of epic proportions complete with wailing guitar. Vocals on the track are provided by Aqualung which are kept largely intact in this mix, adding to the power and drive of ‘Little Angel’/
So many good songs are just kicking my ass today! Rex The Dog’s blistering reMix of ‘My Enemy’ by Aeroplane is just one of them.
Featured on Aeroplane’s April Mixtape Rex’s version is a hypnotic storm of retro synth work that boarders on New Beat in some places and lifts you up into Cosmic Disco territory in others. Taken from Aeroplanes album, ‘We Can’t Fly’, ‘My Enemy’ is due to be Vito’s next single and if Rex’s epic synthesiser journey is anything to go by the reMix package should be awesome.
Rex The Dog – Mixtape #1 Here We Go Scando = Completely made up of Scandinavian, mostly Swedish (or reMixed by someone from Sweeden) ElectroPop. The whole mix has a cool, icy, edge to it but with an underlying warmth. Very nice to chill to.
Scandinavian ElectroPop whirlwind Robyn’s forthcoming single ‘Dancing On My Own’, for her new album ‘Body Talk Pt. 1’ is shaping up to have an awesome reMix package supporting it.
Things in the Rex The Dog camp have been pretty quiet recently but he’s powering back with this amazing reMix, the trademark Rex The Dog style bassline really kicks the track up a notch, it’s really Poppy for RtD but may have place Roby (like last year) in our top 20 of 2010 already! Chew-Fu don’t do a bad job themselves, turning in a euphoric, hands-in-the-air slice of Electro-House with a really 80’s movie feel.
The video for Rex The Dog‘s, Yazoo sampling, ‘Bubblicious’ has started knocking round the web.
I do like Rex The Dog videos, always something interesting.
It’s a cool track, and off of a wicked album ‘The Rex The Dog Show’, but I don’t think anything on the album touches the greatness that was ‘Circulate’.
Still, I like that he makes quite complex, deep Electro-House injected with a Pop edge, and I love the all the merchandising and stuff. That’s a serious vision of how to get on in the post 2K music biz.
