[Download] Disclosure & AlunaGoerge’s ‘White Noise’ reMixed by Todd Edwards

Disclosure

House generations new and old come together on this pounding reMix of Disclosure and AlunaGeorge White Noise (possibly our favourite Disclosure tune) by LA legend Todd Edwards. First heard on his 2013 Essential Mix, Edwards claims to have whipped the track up on a train en route to a warehouse party Disclosure had invited him to play at. There’s no leaves on this train track!

The tune is a hard-hitter. Pumping and hypnotic. Edwards crafts a looping machine of rumbling bass and hot piano stabs set to a kick drum on overdrive. Snatches of the original tune, mostly Aluna’s refrain, pepper the track, bring you back to something recognisable. At it’s core though, this is a surprisingly Teutonic slice of late night floorfiller.

[Download] Röyksopp’s ‘Poor Leno’ reMixed by Laberge

Röyksopp

Röyksopp’s, Erlend Øye voiced, Poor Leno is one of our favourite track of all tie. In fact, Melody A.M. is one of our favourite albums of all time, so it is a brave producer (in our eyes) who tackles such an iconic song. Canadian producer Laberge dived in head first with his reMix, not only playing with perfection, but also doing in completely hardware style, even the sequencing. Y’know what? He pulls it off.

Laberge serves up a storming slice of House with all the trimmings. Whipping up the  tune from a summery, slightly melancholic, introspective wig-out into a bouncy, funky, House jam Laberge build his reMix from layers of loops; keeping the beats tight and energetic and the bass low and rumbling. Morphing snatches of the originals vocals and spinning them in and out of the track he creates something with the soul of the original, but who’s body lives in clubland.

[Audio] PJU & Earl Grey’s ‘Call Me Up’

PJU & Earl Grey

In what must be one of the most exciting collaborations in recent years, London club giants Punks Jump Up have teamed up with one half of The C90s Danny Ashenden A.K.A. Earl Grey. The fruits of this meeting of minds is to be the début release on new Exploited sub-label, Exploited Ghetto, a single titled Call Me Up. These guys have known each other for a while and share a deep love of early Chicago House and analog synths; and if you a fan of either of their musics, or a fan of raw, synthesizer dance music, you’re in for a treat here.

Call Me Up kicks off with a low filtered bass playing a pattern that immediately let’s you know what you’re in for. Channelling warehouse sounds with a hint of Acid; Call Me Up is actually as Detroit as it is Chicago, with a strong Juan Atkins feel to some elements. The hard Roland beats, the robotic vocals, the utterly infections bassline; all this adds up to a track made for strobe lights in dingy clubs and sweaty dancefloors. Only time will tell if a track is classic, but Call Me Up has the chops to stand shoulder to shoulder with the tunes that influenced it; and that’s high praise indeed.

[Audio] Julio Bashmore’s ‘Kong’

julio-bashmore

The new one from Bristol House guru Julio Bashmore is a awesome taster of what to expect from his forthcoming album. The long player is due sometime later this month, but until then the man has dropped an exceedingly classy slick of West Country House that features vocals from London based singer Bixby (from synth funk juggernaut Arkon Fly) providing some silky tones. This is Kong.

Kong is a deep and involving tune that it’s easy to sink into. Warm tones with a warehouse vibe thread throughout the track, riding a cowbell heavy rhythm, lending Kong a comfortable, kinda’ summer nights, groove. Bixby’s vocals are reminiscent of 80s Soul singers and the mood works perfectly with the relaxed sounds. At one exhilarating and laid back, this bodes well for the album.

[Audio] Satin Jackets’ ‘Shine On You’ reMixed by Ben Macklin and MiGHty mOUse

Satin Jackets

Early next month Eskimo Recordings drops the new single from German Disco dons Satin Jackets. This new one featured vocals from London based crooner Esser, and the already awesome single comes backed with two even awesomer reMixes. Satin Jackets sure know how to pick ‘em as they serve up reworks from two of our favourite producers around right now. SynthWave maestro Ben Macklin and Cosmic Disco don MiGHty mOUse. Check out the reMixes of Shine On You.

The Macklin Dub eases you into it’s laid back groove with dreamy tones and sample snatches. Soon you;’e treated to a warm House vibe. Laid back and too cool for school, this reMix strips things back to pure dancefloor necessities and utilises them to full effect. Countering a deep bass with shimmering chines, Macklin offers up a chilled House anthem that we’re going to save for those lazy summer nights. MiGHty mOUse’s take on the tune immediately drops you into high energy Sci-Fi Disco territory. This in turn get peppered with classic UK House elements; the raw Cosmic bass playing up against sparkling arpeggios. As the Esser’s vocals glide frictionless across this soundtrack, things are taken to the next level with an array of soaring leads that lend the track in intense and euphoric dramatic quality. There’s a perfectly times build too. Amazing stuff.

[Audio] Bottin’s ‘Acid Disco’

Bottin

Italian/German label Slow Motion Records are celebrating being in existence for five strong years with the release of their first ever compilation. Titled Italian Dance Wave (Disco Uno), the record will lay out a selection of label boss Franz Underwear’s secret crate weapons from the likes of Clap Rules, Riders Of The Lost Arp and this stormer from Italian analog Disco/ElectroPop maestro Bottin. Check it out.

Even before pressing play, Acid Disco (No Fear) had out interest piqued. We’ve made no secret in the past of our love for slick Disco mixed with Acid burbling, we feel it’s a sorely underexplored musical avenue, so a title like Acid Disco made us sit up and take notice. Bottin really delivers with this one. It’s a strong retro Disco tune, loaded with vintage synths. An infectious bassline and stabbing keys ride a beat that veers between Disco and House. Running alongside this is a deft 303 hook, slickly filtering in and out of the track, giving it that extra kick. RoboDisco with a twist. Awesome stuff!””

[Audio] Pat Lok reMixes Gold Fields’ ‘Hold Me’

Gold Fields

Pat Lok just doesn’t stop working, does he? He’s already dropped his latest tune this week and here comes his next reMix. This time the Canadian groover takes on Australian Indie-Electro outfit Gold Fields ‘ single of last year, Hold Me. This one is the perfect tide-over until the weekend. Turn it up!

Lok mixes up a little Deep House and a little classic early 90s House sheen on this one. Starting off smooth and silky, Lok soon brigs the big retro vibes and hammers home the dance energy with a big piano hook. There’s a woozy bassline underpinning an ecclectic take on House synths, Pat injects the track with his own personality here, while the original’s vocals swirl in a reverb-y haze around the track. Summertime grooves.

[Audio] BeatLoaf’s ‘Romantic’

BeatLoaf

Here’s the new one from the man like BeatLoaf. The Detroit based Electro producer always delivers both the funky and the innovative in his tunes, and this new ecclectic track is no different. Romantic really serves up an electronic journey over it’s six minutes, drawing you into it’s synthetic soundscape. Watch out for the House, it does turn up! Check it out.

Tasking it’s time to evolve and draw you in. Romantic rides waves of robotic audio; layering and undulating modulated vocals to create a machine atmosphere that lulls you into a false sense of security before hitting you with the House bassline. The whole track is very Detroit, bringing to mind a Housier version of Cybotron. Involving stuff.

[Video] Marcus Marr’s ‘Brown Sauce’

Marcus Marr Brown Sauce Official Video YouTube

Brown Sauce is the new single from London based DFAer, acclaimed producer Marcus Marr. An epic, raw, tune that combines the DFA New York Disco sound with a health dose of Acid House.

Here’s the video. It’s wildly literal as Kris, DFA label manager, downs a chip butty. Any guesses as to his choice of condiment?
