Owl City gets the magic touch of Grum

OwlCity

I remember a few weeks ago Grum saying on Twitter that he was reMixing Owl City, I thought he was joking…apparently not!

Unlike I lot of people, I actually don’t hate Owl City, they remind me of a Poppier The Postal Service, and I did like The Postal Service (and I like Pop!). So I’m OK with OC going in but damn does Grum work some serious magic here. In a way he’s taken Owl City, and made it Monarchy, and that’s an ace thing to do! The mixture of Adam Young’s introspective, borderline Emo, SynthPop and Grum’s Disco infused Dreamwave creates this genius dancefloor ElectroPop gold!

‘Umbrella Beach’, the second single from the ‘Ocean Eyes’ album , is out soon.

Jump Jump Dance Dance

JumpJumpDanceDance

LA based Electro-Indie-Rock duo Jump Jump Dance Dance are releasing their début single, ‘Show Me The Night’ on 26th March, and it’s a catchy party track with an LCD Soundsystem crossed with The Whip feel to it.

The single contains some great reMixes. Grum looks like he’s got his eyes on Russ Chimes’ constantly-amazing-nu-disco-remixes crown as he’s pumping out fantastic mix after mix and this one is no exception with a killer bassline and retro synths. ElectroPop newcomers Human Life turn in this hazy, summery, Disco tune that kicks into some old school rave chords.

Grum Vs. Magistrates

Magistrates

Essex Indie outfit Magistrates have been given the Electro treatment by the always quality Grum.

A bit more ElectroPop than your usual Grum outing but it’s still got that Grum groove and the whole track works together brilliantly. ‘Gold Lover’ sounds like it was written with this reMix in mind!

Apparently Magistrates have split up, or something.

Priors reMixed

Priors

The track ‘What You Need’ (or at least the demo version of it) by Raw Man’s project, Priors, has been knocking ‘round the internet for a few months now. Finally it is getting a full reMix package release courtesy of Eye Industries and the smooth Nu-Disco ElectroPop jam some pretty sweet reworkings.

Grum just goes from strength to strength. His reMix here is more chilled than his usual production but it shows a laidback side to his work and is a solid slick of 80’s-esq electronic Funk. Hey Champ!’s take on the tune is more of a cut-up roller-Disco monster. Finally Allen Walker gives us the most straight-up dancefloor version

Goldfrapp’s Rocket reMixes

Goldfrapp

Goldfrapp’s forthcoming comeback single (yes, I’m calling it a ‘comeback single’, what?) ‘Rocket’ has been given a couple of sweet reMix treatments.

Prolific Leeds reMixer Grum’s French House version is just the perfect style of mix for this track, all disco beats and retro synths, it’s like Goldfrapp turned up to 11! The next take is provided by, none other than, Richard X, who’s stripped down, minimal, analog synth jam is just as club friendly:

Still lovin’ the original too!

‘Rocket’ will be the first single from the album ‘Head First’.
