[Audio] Monarchy’s ‘Living Without You’

Monarchy

It’s been a while since we had new material from London SynthPop duo Monarchy, over a year (not including their collaboration with MiGHty mOUse), but the boys are back in town with a brand new single. Ushering in a larger, and perhaps more mature, sound is Living Without You.

The inclusion of grinding chainsaw synths might seem out of place for Monarchy at first glace, but by the end of the track the cinematic lift of the track brings it all together in a way that makes sense. Andrew and Ra go full throttle with this one, with both huge, anthemic, vocals and enough sonic power to push this squarely into Big Room territory. Unsurprisingly the new single is released via Ultra Records, purveyors of largely mainstream Dance tracks, whether they can shoehorn Monarchy into the big Progressive House market will remain to be seen, but we’ll enjoy the fruits of the effort.

The latest track from Bristolian Xenomania skin basher Florrie’s Sirens EP to get the video treatment is the 90s DancePop powerhouse Wanna’ Control Myself.

It’s all 60’s drama with this clip, to match the chugging bass riff, of the track as classic British thriller mood meets Pop hipster style.

[Audio] Blank Paper’s ‘Step Into My Office’

blank paper

We featured new music from Brooklyn SynthPoppers Blank Paper earlier this month with the lead track form their forthcoming new EP, Ambien. Here’s the second tune taken from the release. It’s called Step Into My Office and paints a business like metaphor for getting closer to a special someone; wich feels odd to us, we’ve always knows asking someone to “step into your office” as a metaphor for dumping someone. Oh, how the Atlantic separates us.

As with Ambien, Step Into My Office is a lush and woozy slice of very 80s ElectroPop. A churning synth bassline stagers the track forward like a drunken robot, dragging with it rich vintage synths and spacious melodies. Marie Kim’s vocals are pure 80s joy, a decade which loved an awkward metaphor, flowing over the track with an upbeat optimism that hides a slight air of menace. Another awesome tune from Blank Paper, we’re very much looking forward to the EP.

[Audio] Keljet & Mereki’s ‘Run This World’

Just out is the new one from Dutch Disco duo Keljet. These guys have been making quite a name for themselves in the past few months and here comes the icing on the cake. Feature  a little vocal spice from the awesome Mereki, the is Run This World.

As chilled as it gets, Run This World is pure sunshine goodness. The pairing of warm filtered synths and Mereki’s infectious vocals make for the perfect poolside jam. Absurdly optimistic, this is carefree vocal Nu-Disco at it’s finest, piled on heavy with shiny stabs, a buoyant bassline and a shuffling Disco beat that’s built for some top-down cursing. Welcome to your summer..

[Audio] Thunder & Co.’s début EP

Thunder & Co.

Hailing from Lisbon in Portugal Thunder & Co. have come out of nowhere and have just unleashed their début EP via Duro Music. We’d never heard of them before, but just one listen to their première release told us everything we needed to know, the EP is very very good. Five tracks of Indie-Electro infused Nu-Disco that can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the genre. Get involved with their self-titled collection now.

The Lead track O.N.O. (One Night Only) is a slick summer jam that cascaded easy, dreamy, synths over an energetic Nu-Disco groove. Catchy and optimistic vocals inserted into the mix for that sing-a-long factor are the icing on the cake. It;s an impressive start to the EP. Elsewhere you can find D.Y.E., which continues in the vein of emotional, live Indie-Dance with a sprinkling of Italo bass and Disco licks amongst the thick synth groove and impassioned vocals. I.C.K.Y. end the EP on a more House-y tip with modulated vocals and a cheeky bright keys vibe. these three tracks alone are worth the price, but there two more for you to discover too. We recommend checking this EP out.
