Red Blooded Women & Designer Drugs take on the Mode

redbloodedwomen

What can we say about covers of ‘Enjoy The Silence’? Everyone tries it at least once, most fail miserably. You can’t blame them for trying, though, it is one of the greatest songs ever written after all.

A few succeed…

Luckily, sultry London SynthPop trio Red Blooded Women fall into the later category with this fantastic cover of Depeche Mode’s classic, here given analogue dancefloor treatment by reMixers of the moment Designer Drugs.

‘Enjoy The Silence’ is released on 29th March and includes reMixes by Parralox, Heads We Dance, 7th Heaven and Bassmonkey.

The ‘You Made Your Bed’ EP is still available below:

It’s Giantess!

giantess

It’s a damn shame it’s February, ‘cos listening to Giantess just makes you want it to be summer!

This Massachusetts lot have a sound where filthy analogue growling jostles for place with bright lead lines and cheeky vocals all done with tongue firmly in cheek!

♫ Giantess – Tuff ‘N’ Stuff (zShare) (MediaFire)

They look like they are a lot of fun live too, hopefully they will make it to these shores soon.

Giantess are currently unsigned but you can give them some MySpace love, there are more tracks there.

Heads We Dance cover Kraftwerk

heads-we-dance

The Buffetlibre DJs Rewind project claims another victim, this time Leeds ElectroPop dramatists Heads We Dance have only gone and covered Kraftwerk, ain’t they!

♫ Heads We Dance – Computer Love (Kraftwerk Cover) (BL Rewind) (zShare) (MediaFire)

It’s quite a cool, fun, cover in HWD’s usual Electro/Disco style.

Pretty fitting for a band who’s entire catalogue appears to be about some form of machine lovin’ or other, including their 2008 ‘hit’ ‘Love In The Digital Age’

HWD’s clubby ElectroPop goodness is available now!

LIGHTS

lights

Ahh, that timeless story of a girl and her keytar….

Let me introduce to you LIGHTS.

Why?

Well, ‘cos it’s Sunday and LIGHTS is kinda’ ‘Sunday SynthPop’. It’s some pretty chilled tunes, but without being dreary or ambient. This is singer/songwriter stuff. Actually, there is a hint of a female The Postal Service going on here, albeit more optimistic, or a less folksy Lykke Li.

Like I said, girl and her keytar…

Did I mention she’s from Toronto?

♫ LIGHTS – The Last Thing On Your Mind (zShare) (MediaFire)

There’s more on her MySpace.

LIGHTS will be here in the UK for a few shows in April and her just released her début EP, which is available below along with a bunch of other cool stuff like comic books and headbands!

The Presets; New video and single news!!!

Yesterday, The Presets premièred their new video for the upcoming single ‘If I Know You’:

The video is directed by Eva Husson (who directed the acclaimed short for M83’s Kim and Jessie)

‘If I Know You’ is possibly my favourite track off of last years, absolutely stunning, ‘Apocalypso’ so I’m chuffed it’s getting single treatment, even more so if you take into account the reMix line up, which includes Tom Middleton, Via Tania & Jori Hulkkonen, Chaim, Heartbreak and Vince Clarke!!!

‘If I Know You’ will be out in late march on Modular Recordings, more news as we have it.

If there is anyone out there stupid enough not to have The Presets’ last two albums, they can rectify the matter at the vendors below:

New Marsheaux

marsheaux

SynthPop superstars Marsheaux, this week, have given us a taste of what to expect from them in the future. The girls are still in the studio putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming album and this track, ‘Breakthrough’, is the first to be completed.

If this is what we should be looking forward to then we are salivating for the full release! This is, IMHO the best track Marsheaux have ever done!

Absolutely spot-on, no-bollocks, classic SynthPop. This is how it should be done!

Marsheaux defiantly deserve your attention!

Frankmusik Vs. Fan Death Vs. Frankmusik

frankmusik2

Frankmusik‘s new single ‘Better Off As Two’ is set to drop on April 2nd and is exactly the kind of ElectoPop goodness we’ve come to expect from the guy.

Reporting for reMix duty are Italo-Disco-Art-Kooks Fan Death who bring home the storming Disco bacon with this one!

♫ Frankmusik – Better Off As Two (Fan Death reMix Instrumental) (zShare) (MediaFire)

There had better be a vocal version on the single or someone’s gonna’ pay!

The man brings himself some noise on his own reMix.

All good stuff! Frankmusik and Fan Death can both be devoured at one of the the eateries below.

Sportsday Megaphone

Lo-Fi emotional ElectroPopster Sportsday Megaphone has just unleashed this animated video of his single ‘Meet Me In The Middle’

The single, which was released a month or so ago on Sunday Best Recordings, features reMixes from Kitsune’s David E. Sugar and Max Justus, who ChipTune’s up the whole thing.

♫ Sportsday Megaphone – Meet Me In The Middle (Max Justus reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

♫ Sportsday Megaphone – Meet Me In The Middle (David E. Sugar reMix) (zShare ) (MediaFire)

But, to be honest, although I do really like those reMixes I still think the original is better.
