[Video] Frankmusik’s ‘Map’

Frankmusik, free of the shackles of his old label, has just dropped a free EP of new tracks, the four of which really show off Vincent for the talent that he is. Sounding more comfortable with himself, Frankmusik has releases an amazing collection of ElectroPop tunes and a manifesto for himself going forward.

Here’s the video for one of those tunes, Map, which is all very woodland, but only cements the idea that Vincent is now doing it his way.

You can pick up Frankmusik’s new EP, Far From Over, for free here.

[Video] Passion Pit’s ‘Carried Away’

We’re not really sure what the current trend of releasing music videos months after the single is out actually achieves. Surely using the video to hype the single’s release is the point? Anyhoo, here’s the clip for Passion Pit’s track of last year, Carried Away. An ace track.

Directed by Ben Brewer & Alex Brewer, the video features Sophia Bush. Maybe it took ages to get her?

Passion Pit’s Gossamer album is out now.

[Video] The Postal Service’s new song. Yes…NEW SONG!

A Tattered Line Of String is the new song from one of our favourite artists of all time, The Postal Service. Made up of electronic experimentalist Dntel and frontman of Emo rockers Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Gibbard (and weirdly, despite our love of the Postal Service, we have never even listed to one Death Cab song). Their 2003, now legendary, album, Give Up, was the only album they ever release, and ever will. But recently Sub Pop announced a tenth anniversary release of the album (alongside an increasingly sold out handful of reunion shows, of which we have much sought after tickets too) that will contain two brand new tracks. This is the first.

Recorded during the Give Up sessions, A Tattered Line Of String is The Postal Service sounding as fresh as ever. We have no idea how this didn’t originally make the album, we’re just happy to be listening to a new the Postal Service track. Catchy as hell.

The Postal Service’s tenth anniversary release of Give Up comes out 9th April.

[Video] Sunless ’97’s ‘Aurora I’

Fresh faced London trio Sunless ’97 have unleashed the new video for their forthcoming new single, Aurora I. A brilliant piece of otherworldly, deep R&B ElectroPop that washes over you like warm water.

The video is very tongue-in-cheek, but quite genius with it. Like a 90s R&B video though a gritty, piss-taking London lens.

I’m also including this photo of Sunless ‘97, as it has been taken on the street I live on (as evidenced here: http://instagram.com/p/Uds-e0rJUp/). East London, what!?

Sunless ’97’s Aurora I is released 25th March with reMixes from F.E.A.R. and Luke Solomon.

[Video] Goin’ Old School: Kraftwerk & Laid Back

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

In honour of Kraftwerk’s Tate Modern series of shows, which we completely failed to get tickets for, here’s 1986’s Musique Non Stop.

And classic 1983 SynthPop from Germany’s Laid Back and White Horse.

[Video] Pyramid’s ‘Wolf’

Here’s the video for French SynthWaver Pyramid’s awesome new single, Wolf, and epic slice of SynthWave brilliance.

The video was directed by Etienne Perrin and is an action packed romp loaded with Pyramid’s abstract logo.

[Video] Ursa Minor (Little Bear)’s ‘Ha!’

Here’s the video for London based ElectroPop/House act  Ursa Minor (Little Bear)’s 909 fuelled new single Ha!.

It’s a hunting, imposing, track with 90s House overtones, and the clip is suitably retro, laden with vintage video effects.

Ha! features on Ursa Minor (Little Bear)’s Shell EP, out now.

[Video] Róisín Murphy’s ‘Simulation’

This is the pretty long awaited video for Róisín Murphy single Simulation, which was released in August last year.

It’s a nice looking clip to accompany the House infused track, a little lacking in Ms. Murphy herself though,

Róisín Murphy’s Simulation is out now.

[Video] Goin’ Old School: Casco & Soft Cell

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

Today get your ears around Casco’s absolute Italo classic from 1983. Cybernetic Love.

And from 1981, Soft Cell ode to London, Bedsitter.

[Audio] The Elriks’ ‘I Am Who I Am’

The Elriks

The latest release on La Belle Records comes courtesy of French Electro duo The Elriks, whose I Am Who I Am EP delivers four tracks of grinding, yet melodic Electro-House with a Deep and Disco twist. Like an onslaught of (soon-to-be) robotic overlords, these four tracks manage to merge the mechanical and funky for a powerful experience.

The lead track, I Am Who I Am, is a bit reminiscent of old Simian Mobile Disco. it’s chainsaw synth bass seems like a strange companion for groovy horn samples, but these guys make it work. APZee’s vocals just add to the tracks abrasive infectiousness. Our favourite track off of the EP, though, is Like A Robot. The Elriks reign things in a little on this tune, producing something a little deeper, a little more atmospheric, and a little more dancefloor friendly. A hypnotic track with a low, low bass that gets under you skin before the BladeRunner lead enters the picture. Proper Sci-Fi House.
