Belgian Disco-House master A.N.D.Y.’s Nyemiah Supreme featuring Technotronic-esque single Pump It Up was actually out late last year, but at the end of this month delivers it’s reMix package to the public. To coincide with the release the track has also gone and got itself a video.
The video, directed by Aykan Umut is suitably 90s, and pumped up. Check A.N.D.Y. looking coolly disinterested int he background.
A.N.D.Y.’s Pump It Up (reMixes) is released 31st October.
It never really occurred to us that Little Boots’ first post-Hands single, Shake (nearly two years old now) never had a video. Well, better late than never, and now that the awesome Nocturnes album is out in the wild it makes sense to draw attention to one of it;s finest tracks.
The clip is part dance audition, part Robot Wars, and robots make anything at least 80% better.
Booka Shade’s deep and epic new single, Love Inc., has been making waves for a couple of weeks now, so to reinvigorate your interest here’s the new video for the track.
Suitably, for the track, the video is a whole lot of love. Directed by Thomas Hayo, the clip is just all manner of people, not to mention cartoons, making out. Simple and effective.
Booka Shade’s ‘Love Inc. is out now with the album following 1st November.
We featured Ali Love’s new single, Another, a couple of weeks ago. It’s a deep, Chicago-y House tune with a little ElectroPop going on too. Check out the brand new video for the track.
It’s all very Cyberpunk, featuring cobbled together technology and virtual reality fighting. It’s nicely shot and the laser smoky swirl is a nice effect for the VR world.
Australian ElectroPoppers extraordinaire Cut Copy’s new single Free Your Mind, with all it’s 90s Indie-Dance leanings has gone and got itself a video. Check it out.
It’s got some Alexander Skarsgard, from True Blood and nothing else really in, and was directed by Christopher Hill and is pretty funny actually. All culty.
Cut Copy’s Free Your Mind is released 5th November.
Sea Of Love is the first single from San Francisco ElectroPop outfit Silver Swans’ forthcoming sophomore album Touch. It’s a beautiful, swirling and mysterious slice of DreamPop that is truly enchanting in both voice and synths. It definitely has us intrigued to hear the album.
The video was directed by Seamus Harte and Silver Swans own Ann Yu in Ann’s, very brightly lit, bedroom. The subtle vintage video effects really make this clip stand out.
Of The Night, London ElectroPop outfit Bastille’s ode to Snap!’s Rhythm Is A Dancer and Corona’s The Rhythm Of The Night, and long-time live favourite will be the bands next single, due out at the end of next month.
The video, though, is more in tune with the end of this month, featuring a cops night-time drift from murder to murder.
Bastille’s Of The Night is released 24th November.
The Good Life is the new single from Australian songstress Elizabeth Rose. Look out for skittering electronic beats, waves of buzzing synths and a soaring vocal performance.
Check out the video, not really sure what happens in it, lots of singing and milling about. Looks nice though.
Best Be Believing is the next single to be taken from London Electro R&B superstars AlunaGeorge’s début album, Body Work. It;s a good choice for single treatment too, catchy and passionate with a complex groove.
The video goes all One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest as the duo take on the roles of doctor and patient on a hospital ward.
Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:
This week we’re dedicating Goin;’ Old School to to the documentary, and it’s soon to be released soundtrack, The Sound Of Belgium. Directed by Jozef Devillé the film has already won numerous awards and chronicles the journey of Belgian music from the dancehall days of Popcorn, through EBM and New Beat to House and Techno. You can find local screenings on their website, and this November a three CD soundtrack compilation will be released with a tracklist reading like a whos-who of influential Belgian music. To us, Belgian music will always mean old school EBM and New Beat, so check out three tracks from the forthcoming album that remind us of out wasted youth.
It’s been featured on Goin’ Old School before, but Front 242’s Headhunter from 1988 is the quintessential EBM track.
Another one from 1988 Neon’s Target Records New Beat classic, Voices.
Maybe 1988 was the year for us? Logo’s moody SynthPop/New Beat Businessmen certainly helped.
The Sound Of Belgium triple album is released 25th November, the documentary has it’s first UK screening this month, find dates here.
