TeenagersInTokyo

TeenagerInTokyo02

TeenagersInTokyo are gearing up for the release of their début long player, ‘Sacrifice’, at the end of the month and are preceding it with the second single from the album.

‘End It Tonight’ originally featured on the bands début EP last year but is given new lease of life by a bunch of ace reMixes. We Have Band’s jittery percussion and four bar basslines shine through, the WHB sound actually works really well with Samantha Lim’s vocals. Nightschool are the next in a long line of ‘mystery’ acts to appear in the last couple of years. I’m sure people will have all kinds of theories as to who it is, I’m sure there will be loads of Gossip (ahem). Focusing on his reMix though, it’s got a nice New Wave vibe going on with a nice balance of bass & guitar to Synths, kinda’ gives the song more of a live feel too, which is nice.

Performance’s new single

Joe Cross is such the man to watch this year, he is a dude with his fingers in many pies!

As well as being one third of Indie-Electro outfit Performance, he is also half of the awesome Kiss In Cities and had a hand in upcoming releases by HURTS and The Sound Of Arrows.

Anyway, this is ‘The Living’, the latest single from Performance who really do have a knack for songwriting, they may be my favourite current (Indie slanted) Indie-Electro band in the UK. I think I like them so much ‘cos they combine ElectroPop elements with an early ‘90’s Indie sound. Rad stuff!

The single is out now on Too Much Information Records.

Alec Empire’s reMix of IAMX’s ‘I Am Terrified’ video

Here is the viral video for Alec Empire’s reMix of the IAMX song ‘I Am Terrified’.

It was shot and edited by Chris Corner himself and just shows you don’t need a massive budget to produce something with stunning visuals!

The reMix is released on ‘Dogmatic Infidel Comedown OK’, which fans in the UK can get packaged as a bonus disc with the UK release of IAMX’s last album, ‘Kingdom Of Welcome Addiction’,  17th May on 61Seconds.

Midnight Juggernauts; new tracks!

MidnightJuggernauts04

‘Vital Signs’ we’ve heard before out of these two previews from Midnight Juggernauts’ forthcoming 2010 album, ‘The Crystal Axis’.

Both tunes see a progression of MJ’s particular brand of Space-Electro-Indie-Disco-Pop but still sounding defiantly Juggernauts. The subtle anthemic quality with a hint of psychedelia in a Lo-Fi garage style is still ever present but with a little more sparseness, a little more edge and a little more maturity. Oh, and big ‘70’s creepy synth solos!

LCD Soundsystem Vs. Holy Ghost!

LCDSoundsystem

LCD Soundsystem’s recent single, the first off of their long awaited follow up to ‘Sound Of Silver’, ‘This Is Happening’ has been given a deep synth work out by fellow Ney Yorkers Holy Ghost!.

‘Drunk Girls’ was the epitome of LCD Soundsystem, a raucous slab of garage Electro-Rock. Holy Ghost! keep much of the original flavour but add some deep analog synth bass and effects to the mix. Still just as raucous, just a little more electronic. It’s all good!

Holy Ghost! – Say My Name

Holy Ghost

DFA will be releasing the début proper EP for Brooklyn duo Holy Ghost! next month.

‘Static On The Wire’ contains four songs, the title track being a duet with Penguin Prison!!! One of the tracks, ‘Say My Name’ was featured on the latest Kitsuné Maison compilation and is a slice of soulful, perfectly executed, Disco-Rock. All reverb drenched drums, analog synths and tight riffs, great stuff!

The Ghost’s ‘City Lights’

TheGhost

Residents of the Faroe Islands and recent Sunday Best signings The Ghost have been tipped as ‘one to watch’ by the NME for their unique mix of vintage ElectroPop and Indie.

Gearing up for the June release of their début album, ‘War Kids’, the duo are dropping their first UK single in May. ‘City Lights’ which is as anthemic as it is introspective. Amongst others the reMix duties are handled by none other than Mr. David E Sugar who presents a typically upbeat Electro-House mix with some pretty euphoric (in a good way) breakdowns. I’m also really digging  The Deadstock 33s robo-Disco reMix, I could listen to that synth bass all day!

The Amplifetes

TheAmplifetes

The Amplifetes are a four piece from Sweden comprised of songwriters and producers who have worked with the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Peter Bjorn & John, Kelis and Madonna but only started jamming together in the past year.

Their sound seems to change from track to track but it’s generally got a raw garage Electro-Rock vibe. ‘It’s My Life’ is an full on Electro tune with quirky, ElectroPunky, overtones and would completely rock any Indie-Electro dancefloor. ‘Whizz Kid’ in comparison is more D.I.Y. Glam Electro-Rock with an absolutely killer reMix by Blende, who turns in a huge, retro synth laden, Nu-Disco epic.

DOM

Dom

DOM (the Band), brainchild of Dom (the dude) are from Worchester, Massachusetts, a town getting a bit of a rep for producing ElectroPop these days.

On the verge of a hype explosion the band are about to release their début EP, ‘Sun Bronzed Greek God’ which includes the standout track ‘Living In America’. Imagine Passion Pit rehearsing next door to Daft Punk and sitting in the middle. Their brand of fun Electro sarcasm should take them a long way!

The Good Natured’s ‘Your Body Is A Machine to be re-released

TheGoodNatured

It’s been a fair ol’ while since we wrote about The Good Natured, since then I’ve managed to catch her live a few times and have been pretty impressed with what I saw. Understated and almost unconfident on stage but a definite musical talent. I’m sure the stage confidence will grow with time, confidence that can only be bolstered when alarmingly hip record labels want to release the title track form your début EP as a single.

The re-release of the track comes with a whole host of reMixes of the kind you’d expect from an alarmingly hip record. Portmanteau bring the noisy distorted Disco to the single which is quite nicely balanced with Sarah’s distinctive vocals and vocal style. The original track is an absorbing three and a half minutes that is possible the first song ever to be haunting and catchy and Portmanteau manage to hold on to some of that quality as a sheen over that warping synth backing but The Aspirins For My Children really up thing in the chaos stakes with their raucous Indie-Electro noisefest.
