New Little Boots reMixes (in town)

Little Boots by Suki Dhanda

‘New In Town’ is possibly my favourite Little Boots song, especially live, so I’m pleased to see some reMixes starting to rear their heads.

Here we have two mixes First up is Fred Falke who turns in a fast Disco House rework, maybe a little to sped up if I’m honest. The second attempt is by InstitubesDrop The Lime who turns up the bass to 11.

Casiokids ‘Fot I Hose’ video

Why is it that so many artists who make electronic music appear to be completely insane? I mean that in a good way, though.

Maybe they just seem to be having more fun than other musicians?

Case in point; the video for Norwegian ElectroPopsters Casiokids, just released, single ‘Fot I Hose’ which is simple, funny and brilliant.

The song is cool too.

The double A Side ‘Verdens Største Land’/’Fot I Hose’ is out on 7″ and download on Moshi Moshi Records.

Robyn rocks with Røyksopp

robyn

Well, if I was looking forward to the new Røyksopp album, Junior, before, I am seriously exited about it now I’ve heard ‘The Girl And The Robot’ featuring, Modular signed, Swedish ElectroPop nutcase Robyn.

Possibly the most Pop track  have ever done, certainly since ‘Remind Me’, I could really see this being a single. There’s not much to say except that this song is brilliant!

Check out this radio rip (complete with Norwegian DJ!):

Røyksopp (Feat. Robyn) – The Girl And The Robot (Radio Rip) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Gotta’ be in the running for one of the tunes of the year.

Robyn is just one af many names associated with the album. Other contributions are rumoured to be coming from the likes of Lykke Li and The Knife.

‘Junior’ is out on March 23rd on Wall Of Sound.

Metronomy cover The Cure (+ Lady Sovereign)

metronomy

This weeks copy of NME, the big NME Shockwaves Awards 2009 issue, come with a free CD featuring some of the leading lights of today’s indie scene covering tracks by The Cure (who received the “God-like Genius” award)

The CD includes this cover of ‘Fascination Street’ by UK ElectroPoppers Metronomy, which is kinda’ odd:

Metronomy – Fascination Street (The Cure Cover) (zShare) (MediaFire)

While we’re on the subject of The Cure covers I have to lay this on you.

Lady Sovereign – So Human (Original Version) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Lady Sovereign‘s next single is ‘So Human’ and completely riffs off The Cure’s ‘Close To Me’. I would say around 99% of The Cure fans I know will be vomiting blood upon hearing this track, but I kinda’ like it!

A couple of new videos

Busy day today, you you can entertain yourselves with two new videos that have made their début this week.

First up is the poptastic clip for Frankmusik‘s forthcoming single ‘Better Off As Two’.

Also, we have the space invader fuelled video for Røyksopp‘s now on ‘Happy Up Here’. Directed by Reuben Sutherland, this is, like most of Røyksopp’s videos, something special.

Normal service will resume.

Phil Oakey gets around

philoakey1

News has broken this week that, Electro legend, The Human League’s Phil Oakey will be providing guest vocals for two SynthPop superstars.

First up, Pet Shop Boys have confirmed that Philip will be will appear on  ‘This Used To Be The Future’ which will be on the limited edition 2 CD version of their forthcoming album, ‘Yes’.

Oakey has also recorded a duet, entitled ‘Symmetry’, with none other than Electro girl-of-the-moment Little Boots! It will appear on her, soon to be released, album. Apparently Phil approached Victoria after hearing her ‘funtime’ cover of ‘Don’t You Want Me’ on YouTube.

I love Phil’s vocals, he may not be the best singer in the world but he has a tone that lends itself perfectly to everything he does.

Both of these collabarations with top Electro acts have me salivating…can’t wait!

Depeche Mode premiere ‘Wrong’ video

Depeche Mode have just premièred the video for the eagerly awaited upcoming single ‘Wrong’.

It’s a slightly creepy, intense mini movie. I love DM’s ‘cameo’ appearance.

Actually, I really like the song. Some of the synths in there sound like ”Masses’ or ‘Violator’ Mode. Maybe it’s true, maybe we have got the old Mode back.

Where’s Alan?
