[Audio] Russ Chimes’ ‘Sula’

russ-chimes_thumb

It’s another new track from Russ Chimes;’ forthcoming EP. This one is the title track, Sula, which joins We Need Nothing To Collide in peeking out anticipation for this release. The EP is due out in a couple of weeks on Chimes’ own Uno Mas imprint which will feature three tracks, the two aforementioned and Your Love. We can’t wait.

Sula is a sampletastic chilled summer House tune with hints of the Midnight Club EP. Powered along on waves of rolling percussion a surprisingly old school Chimes bassline, Sula conjures a real sunrise vibe with gentle piano loops and horn hooks. This is some serious Balearic tinged euphoria, as Chimes injects this House tune with some real emotional moments. This EP is definitely going to soundtrack some of the finer moments of the coming summer.

[Audio] Meloder’s ‘Helios’

meloder

If you like your House Deep and maybe a little bit Techy then London based House producer Meloder is a good place to start. Having released some storming tunes for Pole Position Recordings and even done us the honour of remixing Box Of Wolves’ Let’s Start Again Meloder is gearing up for a new release via UM Records. Due for release in the coming weeks, the tune can be previewed now. Prepare for deep summery good times.

Meloder’s Helios is a juggling act between atmospheric sounds and a punchy-as-hell groove; and one he pulls off with style. Riding a powerhouse bassline and a big room beat, the track layers warbling synths and airy pads  to deliver a bit of a Balearic flavour over a tough command to dance. A floaty piano hook is the icing on this Sunrise cake as Meloder offers up a tune fit for beach party peak times.

[Audio] Lenno reMixes Chromeo’s ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

chromeo

This, we imagine, is the last of our posts about Canadian funksters Chromeo’s Jealous (I Ain’t With It). Once the stems to a song like this are released into the world, everyone and their dog grabs those coat-tails. We already featured Ride The Universe’s amazing reMix of the tune, a slick laid back Disco stormer. At the other end of the spectrum sit our favourite Finn, Lenno, who takes the track straight to the big room. We’re not expecting anyone to do any better than these two, so case closed.

Taken from their new album White Women, Jealous (I Ain’t With It) was Chromeo’s first single from the album, but weirdly probably the album’s least-strong track. That is, before the likes of Lenno got their hands on it. As we’d expect from Lenno, he makes things truly massive with layers of hugs synths, perfectly produced, Building and building over a Boogie-esque bassline that gives the track a little Disco undertone, Lenno would have the dancefloor in the palm of his hand with this one. Dave 1’s vocals are just the icing on the cake here. We’ve got this on on repeat.

[Audio] Arcade High’s ‘Heat Wave’

Arcade High

One of our favourite SynthWave artists, the Pittsburgh based Arcade High has just released his new EP. Out on digital, or CD (with bundled T-shirt!) via Telefuture, the Heat Wave EP is the first proper release we’ve had from Arcade High since last summers storming Pixel Passion album and sees Ryan indulging his high energy ElectroPop side. Check out the EP’s title track below.

What Arcade High has served up with Heat Wave, which features a nostalgic, Debbie Gibson-esque vocal turn from Morissa Trunzo) is a classy slice of pure American 80s Pop. This one’s all about the pinprick brightness of the synths. Crisp electronic melodies play against each other in a carefree manner to provide a kinetic instrumental for Trunzo’s euphoric performance.A summer soundtrack if ever there was one, Heat Wave is a buoyant and insouciant tune that invites you along with it, you’d be a fool to say no.

[Download] Holmes Price reMixes Color//Sound’s ‘To The Countryside’

Color-Sound

Here’s the latest tune from London based via Bath House producer Holmes Price. It’s a reMix for Irish Indie outfit Color//Sound’s track To The Countryside, and it sees Price continue his gradual journey from a strict House sound to something a little more nostalgically 80s. The mad has contributed a reMix for a forthcoming release on electronic rumors from [redacted] and believe us, that track is pure 80s bliss. Check out his reMix of To The Countryside.

Price turns in a rousing track full of instrumental rises as he swaps Color//Sound’s guitars for waves of lush vintage synths. Not forgetting to lavish the tune with a healthy amount of cowbell, Price layers a driving Italo bassline with gradually building chords until fever pitch when he drops the track into an electro-tom popping breakdown. The song itself seems a bit naff if we’re honest, we deliberately didn’t listen to the original, but Price’s reconstruction is such a thing of cheeky retro brilliance that you can’t help but get into it.

Robert Francis Muller directs the clip, whos kaleidoscopic kinetic energy matches the track’s hands-in-the-air bliss pretty well.

[Download] Figure Of 8 reMixes Christobel’s ‘White Ring’

Christobel

Here’s a tasty new track from our Northern Irish homie Figure Of 8. We never know what we’re going to get with a Figure Of 8 reMix, he’s got this knack of keeping a classic Dance music core while getting pretty experimental with his tunes, and this new one of no different. It’s a reMix of Australian signer Christobel’s White Right, and it’s pretty damn absorbing.

Taking Christolbel’s already haunting vocal, Figure Of 8 crafts a moody and enigmatic tune. Powered by a solid House beat and some deft Acid riffing, the vibe of the track allows Figure Of 8 to play around with some quite evocative sounds. From the brooding electric piano to the Industrial purcussion, it really feels like a musical narrative; there’s so much going on and with so much feeling. Atmospheric vocal House at it’s finest.

[Audio] Russ Chimes’ ‘We Need Nothing To Collide’

russ-chimes

We’ve never hidden our love for the music of Mr. Russ Chimes; from Dreamwave, through to Nu-Disco, through to Big ElectroPop reMixes, through to floorfilling House, he always nails it. Such consistency must be hard to keep up, but one thing we like about Russ’ released is that he doesn’t just chuck out every old thing he produces on SoundCloud once a week, as seems to be the trend these days. He takes his time, gets it right, and because he hasn’t flooded his fans it makes each release feel a bit more like a special event.

So what’s he got in store for us now? This new tune is called We Need Nothing To Collide and sees the producer verging into new territories. Drawing a neat line between spacy 90s Dance and the current wave of UK Deep House, We Need Nothing To Collide brings a little cinematic ambiance that is vaguely reminiscent of The Orb to a relentless and compelling House groove and delivers an interesting and absorbing new Twist on a subby House sound. The track is taken from Chimes’ forthcoming new EP, titled Sula. We can’t wait.
