Stream Erasure’s new single

erasure

Here’s your first taste of what to expect from the eagerly awaited new Erasure album. eagerly awaited not only because it is Vince and Andy’s first studio album since 2007 but also because it has been co-produced by contemporary SynthPop marmite Frankmusik.

The track is ‘When I Start To Break Down’, to be the new single, and bodes very well for the album. There’s a certain epicness to the track that you can see coming both from Andy’s solo work and, more definitely, from Frankmusik. It’s got that heartfelt, with a hint of majestic, melodic quality that Frankmusik used to be so good at before he tried to become an AutoTuned American Hip-Pop nightmare (come home Vince!). The song though, is very much an Erasure track though, but Andy’s Vocals and Vince’s writing shine through and gives up high hopes for the new record. The track also shows what a talent Frankmusik still is, he’s just fallen in with a bad musical crowd or something.

Louis La Roché takes on Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters

Nu-Disco wunderkind Louis La Roché’s latest reMix is a surprising one. surprisingly awesome! He’s taken Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’ and make the Rock smooth!

At fist you wonder whether the growling vocals work in a slick Disco setting, but the end up really doing just that. All credit to Louis, his track is brilliantly crafted around the vocals, created to work with them. Which leaves Dave Grohl’s guttural hollering sliding atop the Electro Disco like and angry, but incredibly funky, track that’s always meant to be there.

Neon Indian’ Polish Girl’ video

Quirky subject matter and dreamlike cinematography? Must be a Chillwave video! It is! It’s for Neon Indian’s sublime ‘Polish girl’.

In all seriousness it’s a nice video and flow with the track well.

New Mille track!

There’s a new Mille track in town! There’s been more output for the Swedish producer recently and that makes me excited for a forthcoming release, and album would be awesome.

‘Crysteena’ immediately cemented Mille as one of my favourite artists of all time, just that one track, so any new output is eagerly awaited round these parts. ‘Roadwraith’ is a dark horror movie of a track that never fails to be bouncy and uplifting in that Mille soaring synth way. A contradiction? Not really, in that moody way that worked so well for Kavinsky on ‘Nightcall’ , Mille works in an 80’s horror kitsch atmosphere into a storming dance track. Growling vocals and ominous chords working in harmony with head nodding bass and cosmic lead lines.

Flume

flume

Jazzy, soulful, slightly Chillwavey with a hint of Disco and a touch of Glitch is how you might describe the title track from Flume’s first EP.

‘Sleepless’ (which features Anthony For Cleopatra) is a pretty stunning début for this Sydney based 19-year old producer. Chopped beats and cut-up vocals are pretty standard fare for Glitchy electronica but Flume layers these with a true understanding of Funk and a smooth groove that ties the track together and makes it more than it’s contemporaries.

Oliver reMixes Housse De Racket

housse-de-racket

Oh Oliver, you crazy Olivers, can you do no wrong? These two’s latest reMix, of Housse De Racket’s latest single ‘Roman’, will easy to into your weekends partying.

Every second of this mix provides instant gratification, there is an immediacy to the feel good synths that counteracts with the laid back Disco backing. The Indie-Electro original is a good tune, but this reMix takes it to the next level…and on to the dancefloor…in hot pants.

Candy Apple Blue’s new single

candappleblue

Here’s the new single from Candy Apple Blue, continuing their mission to bring their DIY retro Pop to the masses.

Harkening back to classic male/female vocal call-and-response track of the 80’s, ‘Caught Up In To’ is nostalgic 80’s soundtrack pop reinvented for the BedroomPop era. The synth arrangement is particularly pleasing, intertwining analog melodies to keep every synthesizer fan happy. Candy Apple Blue unashamedly wear their influences on their sleeve, and while many exaggerate their 80’s roots or pepper them over contemporary tracks, Candy Apple Blue make authentic sounding 80’s hits. Every song from them could be an undiscovered one-hit-wonder from ‘85.
