Gossip Culture

Gossip Culture, a solo Indie-ElectroPop project from Cleveland, Ohio has dropped his latest track ‘1985’ in the electronic rumors Inbox. And so it goes from us to you.

It’s a nice chilled synth Funk jam, like Chromeo winding down after a hard night’s partying. The Funk bass and vocoded vocals work together to product the kind of tune that seem you walking home at 5 in the morning with a smile on your face. In his own words the track is a “tribute to the year that brought us Phoebe Cates, Nintendo, and Rick James”..good call!

Gossip Culture – 1985

The track is part of a 5 track EP, ‘People talk’, due out later this year, until then show the man some MySpace love!

Où Est Le Swimming Pool’s Charlie Haddon R.I.P.

Sad news this evening.

Charlie Haddon, lead singer of ElectroPop heroes Où Est Le Swimming Pool took his own life today whilst the band were at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.

Not much is know about the circumstances but the news has been confirmed by both the band and festival organisers.

Où Est Le Swimming Pool were one of the best, most fun, electronic Pop bands in the UK right now. The put out top quality SynthPop, were awesome live and will be missed.

Our thoughts go out to Charlie’s family, friends and the rest of the band.

Goldfrapp & Little Loud

UK Electro producer Little Loud, who we featured last month, has had his way with Goldfrapp’s forthcoming single ‘Believer’, the third single from their ‘head First’ album, and the results are impressive stuff.

Pretty much all of the music we feature on electronic rumors is made with synthesizers, obviously, but sometimes a track comes along that just sounds really ‘synthy’. This is one of those tracks. Maybe it’s the sidechaining or the big digital bass, whatever it is it sounds ace. Like a deep synthetic hole you can just go and chill in the track is laidback and enveloping.

‘Believer’ is released 7th September on Mute

Glass Candy reMixes Appaloosa

It’s Italo heroes Glass Candy’s second official reMix in 11 years! The subject is Appaloosa’s new single ‘Intimate’.

At just under 6 minutes, the mix certainly manages to sound epic despite being quite lo-fi in it’s instrumentation. What comes out the other side of the Glass Candy studio machine is a hypnotic and engaging ElectroPop tune with Italo Disco leanings. Perfect for summer late nights.

Appaloosa’s ‘Intimate’ single is out 30th August.

New Fever Ray cover of ‘Mercy Street’

Going down a more introspective path we find Fever Ray’s new cover of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Mercy Street’.

Despite being dark and melancholic, this put a smile on my face. It’s been a while since I’ve put on some Fever Ray (or, indeed, The Knife) and this, new material from Karin Dreijer Andersson, just reminded me why she (and her brother) are so good in the first place! It’s a stunning cover.

Just listen.

this is going to be released as a linited edition 7” single on Rabid Records later in the year.

The Ting Tings get ElectroPoppy

IndiePop twosome The Ting Tings are gearing up to release their second album after the massive success of 2008’s ‘We Started Nothing’ and those singles it spawned.

It looks like this time round the duo have taken a more ElectroPop route, the results are actually really cool. Check out the first single from the new album, ‘Hands’, it’s a pretty slick slice of danceable electronic Pop injected with a dose of The Ting Tings’ feisty quirkiness and their trademark sing-a-long choruses.

♫ The Ting Tings – Hands

Retro/Grade have done an excellent job with their reMix, a nice retro version complete with electro toms and two finger basslines. I almost thought it was turning into ‘Smalltown Boy’ at one point!

The Ting Tings – Hands (Retro/Grade reMix)

‘Hands’ is due for release 10th October.

Clancy & Build Vs. Minitel Rose

Who doesn’t love Minitel Rose? Chances are, if you’re reading this blog, you do!

So check out this new reMix of ‘Wild Birds’ from their recent, and amazing, album ‘Atlantic’. It’s been a while since we featured anything by Build, the man’s been quiet of late but here he’s teamed up with fellow London producer Clancy to ElectroPop the hell out of this track. Smooth dancefloor electronic Pop production that could see the names Clancy & Build next to the likes of Grum, Russ Chimes & Starsmith in the future.

Fenech-Soler & Hervé

So, by now you know that the awesome Fenech-Soler are re-releasing ‘Lies’, their single of last year, the reMix package will include this little Balearic rave jam from Hervé.

Hervé brings the deep basslines and sunrise synths to his version. His hypnotic percussion and buzzsaw lead lines seem at odds with the rock swagger of the vocals but somehow Hervé makes it all gel together.

‘Lies’ will be out 20th September on Moda

SONOIO

SONOIO is Alessandro Cortini, Italian analog synth guru who has played live for, and worked with,  the likes of Ladytron, HEALTH, Modwheelmood and Nine Inch Nails.

In a novel, but pretty interesting, move his latest album, released this month, is available in a variety of packages. The most basic being a digital album and exclusive EP bundle, the high end offer being a digital album, exclusive EP and a hand build SuONOIO portable synthesizer! The SuONOIO is a ‘postcard’ synth in the vein of the Bugbrand, but if you’re handy you could always build an enclosure for it. The package including the synth will set you back $160.

The music itself is pretty rad. Deep analog vocoded ElectroPop. Check out this track, ‘Just Me’ and download another three tracks from the album for free here.

SONOIO – Just Me

SONOIO’s eponymous LP is out now.

Muffin reMixes Them:Youth

Check this track out, it’s Australian producer Muffin’s reMix of London based newcomers Them:Youth new single ‘Forever Rising’.

It’s a perfect slice of modern ElectroPop, the bassline and melodies harkens back to the 80’s but the production is bang up to date, that’s how ElectroPop should be done these days! It’s not the first time Muffin has graced these pages, and I doubt it’ll be the last.
