Lola Dutronic

Floating round the outskirts of French Pop, Nu-Disco and Lounge music but never really steeling in one place are Lola Dutronic.

The duo of Lola Dee and Richard Citroen split their time between Toronto and Berlin (by way of Paris) while creating kinda’ post-Gainsbourg electronic Pop. This is serious 60’s-Paris-in-the-rain stuff but with some skilled contemporary programming work from Citroen. It’s hard not to get drawn in by Lola’s intimate vocal style and forget where you are for half an hour.

I actually hear a lot of Saint Etienne in Lola Dutronic.

The pair have just released a new EP, mostly of reMixes, titled ‘Musique’, on Red Digital Music. The mixes span the range of electronic Pop, from almost Trip-Hop beats to dancefloor worthy House tracks, all keeping Lola Dutronic’s smokey style ever present.

Moonchild

Moonchild is a producer from Sydney, Australia who is beginning to make waves in the Nu-Disco scene there.

Having spend years writing Hardcore and Punk tunes, Antoine “Moonchildatronique” Lubidineuse joined the ranks of the glitterball masses and turned his attention to Disco-House. And the world is a better place for it to. His début release, ‘Girls’, is a deep and funky synth Disco epic that gives France’s Filter-house output a run for it’s money.

‘Girls’ is out now.

Deadbots mash up Ikki’s new EP

Noisy Electro-House Spaniard Ikki is taking some brief time off from Dim Mak to release a new EP of FutureFlashs’ record label Kiez Beats.

Not only have Dublin DJ’s Deadbots provided a reMix for the EP but also mashed up this version of the tune with Todd Terry’s ‘Keep On Jumpin’’. The result is a huge dirty Electro-House tune that is just the thing when you can feel the weekend on the horizon.

Neon Circus

Midlands noisy ElectroPop/Electro-Punk outfit Neon Circus are gearing up for the release of their début album on Jacket Pocket Records.

Following the bands singles ‘Future Disco’ and ‘Digit-ism’, both of which gained some national radio play, the album, ‘Don’t Get Panicked’, will showcase the bands mash up of Rock ‘N’ Roll vocals with dirty Electro-House. The single Digit-Ism was almost bordering on ElectroPunk with it’s distorted riffs and call-to-arms vocals.

‘Don’t Get Panicked’ is released on 23rd July

I.D.

Dubstep man of the moment I.D. released his new EP, ‘Mustang’ this month on SubSlayers.

His first solo effort outside of his partnership with Baobinga, the title track rides a deep Dubstep bassline over intricate breaks. The warping bass creating a musical tension skilfully broken buy strings and effects. Defiantly one for a dimly lit club at 3am

sevdahBABY Vs. Sabrina

Serbian Electro-House meister sevdahBABY has dropped by the electronic rumors Inbox with his latest reMix, I couldn’t help myself but feature it!

It’s a banging reworking of Sabrina Salerno’s 1987 Italo/EuroPop crossover ‘Boys (Summertime Love)’. Does it work? Damn straight it does! Even dropping a bit of Dire Straits in the mix it perfectly captures late 80’s TV Pop but brings it right up to date and straight to the dancefloor. Tons of fun to!

¡borracho! reMixes AXXE’s ‘Hard Candy’

¡borracho! have just dropped their long awaited reMix of Canadian ElectroPoppers AXXE’s ‘Hard Candy’  over on their SoundCloud.

We really dig both ¡borracho! and AXXE here so the pairing has gagging for a listen ever since the guys hinted at it. It’s a rolling, pretty chilled, piano driven Electro-House tune that turns AXXE’s Noise-Pop into something altogether smoother.

Also, killer Simmons drum fills!

♫ AXXE – Hard Candy (¡borracho! reMixx)

The reMix single is out soon on Rural Route Records Inc.

Jonteknik

Jonteknik

Jonteknik is an electronic Pop act based in Brighton, UK, who got in touch with us a while back and is long over due a featured post!

With quite a prolific career spanning back to 1988 when he discovered Kraftwerk and Jean-Michel Jarre. Since his first release in 1994 Jonteknik has amassed an impressive list of conspirators including Pascal Gabriel (who has produced everyone from Erasure, New Order, S’Express, Kylie and Dido to Miss Kittin, Ladyhawke, Little Boots and Marina And The Diamonds), Claudia Brücken of Propaganda and both Claudia and OMD’s Paul Humphreys on their OneTwo project.

His music owes a lot to Kraftwerk. Robotic beats and synthetic melodies, often arpeggiated, sit alongside otherworldly pads to create a futuristic dystopian soundtrack but, on his album of last year ‘Sounds From The Electronic Garden’, it’s the collaborations with featured vocalists that Jonteknik really shines. With proper vocals his tracks become RoboPop gems, the cold, mechanical, music suddenly becoming warm and emotive, and even catchy.

Not that their is anything wrong with android electro, it’s our bread and butter, but dancing ‘round your room in a shiny silver jumpsuit is so much more fun with lyrics and Jonteknik’s crisp production (which would rival the German robots themselves!) screams out to be sung along to.

This year he has teamed up with vocalist Martin Philip to release a pair of singles, ‘Omnidirectional’ and ‘Pride In Your Pocket’, both tracks are vocoder laden ElectroPop tracks that lean more toward the Mute side of the genre. Intricate rhythms and synthesizer lines wind in and out of each other to provide backing for Martin’s classic SynthPop vocals.
