Bastille

Bastille

Bastille are a duo from LA who are making a bit of a name for themselves pumping out some good times Nu-Disco party jams.

They’ve just dropped their ‘Bumpin’’ EP, two years in the making, for free containing three tracks of summer fun to loose yourself in. If you like your basslines funky and your Disco with chopped-up horn sections then you’re gonna’ love ‘Bumpin’’. A pure French Disco House juggernaut, the horn riff alone is worth the price of admission but couple that with a killer bassline and you have Disco gold! ‘Wide Open’ slides the mood over into more of a Funk state of mind bringing severe guitar licks to the table and a flue solo that blows the top off the tune. All of the ‘Bumpin’’ EP is well worth your attention if you don’t hate fun.

Goin’ Old School: A Flock Of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away)

Even though I don’t believe New Wave exists, I can’t think of any other way to describe A Flock Of Seagulls. 1982 was the year of ‘I Ran (So Far Away)’.

M83’s new track

m83

Yes, I know. It’s all over the internet and unless you’ve been hiding under a soundproofed rock this past 24 hours you’ll have already heard this. But, whatever, it’s an awesome tune, I was bust yeaterday. What?

Anyway, M83 has given the world a taste of what to expect from his long, long, awaited new album, to be titled, ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’. ‘Midnight City’ is a pretty amazing teaser. Densely layered, yet spacious in it’s production (by Justin Meldal-Johnson, who has worked with Beck, Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta and Goldfrapp) the track is weird, but perfect, combination between 80’s Pop and modern Indie, as in it has a really 80’s vibe to it (and includes an epic, epic, sax solo) but doesn’t feel dated or retro. intelligent ElectroPop with so much going on in it, yet it all works together so well, and when the chorus kicks in, pure musical excitement.

Mix Chopin’s ‘Move Your Body’

mixchoppin

Mix Chopin is knocking out of the park recently. Yesterday he dropped another, absolutely amazing, slice of fresh Nu-Disco.

The Torontonian producer’s ‘Move Your Body’ is straight up slammin’. Funk laden digital slap bass lines fire off left and right, changing and switching as the groove flies from deep Filter to French Touch to in-your-face Elector Disco. If their was one Mix Chopin track that really cements his reputation as a name bound for greatness it’s this tune. There is no way you can’t dance to this, it speaks to your body before your mind gets a look in. Nu-Disco at it’s very best.

Retro/Grade reMixes

Here we have a couple of reMixes of Retro/Grade anthemic DancePop current single ‘Mindfighter’.

The single was released yesterday. It’s a ElectroPop Sci-Fi call-to-arms that gets a deep House workout from Maxxi Soundsystem who’s ‘Warehouse Mix’ has a proper late 80’s/early 90’s free-party vibe. The low square wave bassline and atmospheric electronic creating that hypnotic groove that used to flood abandoned buildings full of revellers. Dollface Devereaux seriously impresses with their massive ElectroPop/House mix. Everything is big in this track. Big digital bass, big House piano riff, big drum rolls, big synth abuse, all fitting with the big nature of the song.

Alfa Vs. Flashlights

flashlights

The finale of today’s Alfa trilogy is his brand new reMix of fellow Binary artists Flashlights’ ‘Holidays’.

Taking the track from their EP, ‘Hidden behind Trees’, Alfa creates something truly epic. A head on collision between deep synth-Funk and wailing 80’s guitar, Alfa’s production skills are pushed into overdrive as a stream of different elements are effortlessly merged into an ass-shaking whole. The Indie-Electro vocals sound as if they’ve always been emoting over bouncy LA funk,  retro synth stabs and the kind of axe work that inspires greatness,

‘Holidays’ is taken from Flashlights’ début EP, ‘Hidden Behind Trees’, out now on  Binary Entertainment
