Kimbra reMix from Sam Sparro

kimbra-

Sam Sparro, alongside Golden Touch, is next in line to reMix New Zealand’s queen of pop Kimbra’ ‘Cameo Lover’.

The duo go down an analog Pop route with some smooth 80’s sounds and hint of Disco yet for the chorus keeps the 60’s Pop flavour. We are rapidly approaching over saturation of ‘Cameo Lover’ reMixes so Sam got in at a good time. It’s an awesome track, but I think If I hear another reMix I’d like it to go down a road other than Disco. G.L.O.V.E.S. and Shook have done that better than most could already.

Marina And The Diamonds – Fear & Loathing

Marina And The Diamonds is back, things are going to get confusing.

So, whet we have here is part one of ‘Electra Heart’ which is, or who is, apparently a singer (not an alter-ego) who “epitomises and embodies the lies, illusions and death of American ideologies involved in the corruption of self.”. We’ll have to watch an see how this plays out. This first part is called ‘Fear And Loathing’ which features a track from Marina’s forthcoming album…called ‘Fear And Loathing’. I’m seeing a pattern here!

Shook reMixes Fallulah

Fallulah

Break out the Moog Funk, Dutch smooth Disco king Shook has reMixed Danish Indie-Pop singer Fallulah’s ‘I Lay My Head’.

This is the perfect track to ease you into the weekend. That thick synth bass has got the Funk so hard that it would get your head nodding even if you were in a neck brace. Add to that some sweet Disco licks some 70’s roller-rink lead lines and you’ve got yourself a heady summertime jam that slides across the dancefloor.

Daze reMixes Ellie Goulding

ellie_goulding

You remember Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry Eyed’? You remember how awesome it was two summers ago? You remember how it has a perfectly good, fun and funky,  music video? You remember how the perfectly good, fun and funky, music video also got edited into a perfectly good music video for the jaw droopingly amazing Russ Chimes reMix of the song? Well, now the single is being released in the States there is a new video for it, which I won’t be posting as it appears to be the latest in a long line of record label attempts to turn Ms. Goulding into the blandest artist ever. The previous video was kinetic, and dancey, and youthful. The new video is Ellie slow-mo in a field, full of product placement, or something. Kinda’ like ‘The Writer’ video then? Seriously, we’ll see how many top 10 hits she has after you’ve tuned her into a dreary folk artist. My advice? Stick her back with Starsmith, let Neon Gold look after her, and we’ll all have a good time. The song is about shared clubbing or festival experiences, not picnics and feeling up bark.

Aaaaaaaaaanyway…renewed interest in the, admittedly still brilliant, track means more reMixes. Daze has put together a storming Disco fuelled epic track. Sliding between different grooves Daze controls the listener before sweeping in with a massive analog solo. Synth Funk haven.

Goin’ Old School: Spandau Ballet – To Cut A Long Story Short

It’s 1980 and Spandau Ballet start the decade as the mean to go on with ‘To Cut A Long Story Short’. However, they quickly decided to tap the potential of the ‘last dance at school disco’ market.
