[Audio] Get A Room!’s ‘Agony & Pain’

Get A Room!

The next release due on Yuksek’s label Partyfine comes from Parisian DJ/producer duo Get A Room!. Aurelien Haas and Jeff Lasson have name a bit of a name for themselves in recent months with reMixes for the likes of YACHT and Breakbot going down a treat and serving up the smooth Leave This Town on last year’s Partyfine Vol. 1 compilation. Now set to drop their début EP, titled Inbetween, next month Get A Room! have let loose the lead track from the release Agony & Pain. Analog goodness incoming!

Agony & Pain a mighty head on collision between Italo and modern Bass House. With a monstrous synth bassline that would have rocked Mediterranean dancefloors in the 80s, turned all the way up to 11, stuffed into a festival club track that Disclosure would be proud of. This meeting of contemporary club juggernaut and retro Italo-Disco groover is utterly compelling, introducing something new into the genre, and is handles with near flawless production. Sounding both vintage in it’s use of analog synth sounds, and absolutely fresh in it’s rich and full sound. This one’s gonna’ tear up certain dancefloors.

[Audio] Giorgio Moroder & Kylie Minogue’s ‘Right Here, Right Now’

kylie-minogue-right-here-right-now-2

So, we weren’t particularly enamoured with Italo Disco legend Giorgio Moroder’s ‘comeback’ single, 74 Is The New 24, it seemed to us to be a bit pedestrian. Modern dance music made by someone who had just discovered it, all over compressed kicks and stuff. That said, we were still eager to hear his new album, hoping some of it channels the shiny analog Disco we love Moroder for, and particularly the collaborations with Charli XCX and Kylie Minogue. Well look what happened over the weekend, the Kylie track leaked, and it’s amazing.

Right Here, Right Now is shimmering synthetic DiscoPop created by the original innovator. It seems some of Moroder’s time with Daft Punk rubbed off on him as the track occasionally shows hints of Random Access Memories, but with more of an electronic Pop sheen. This is big vintage Disco with contemporary Pop production, utterly infectious. Kylie sounds as sweet as ever as the track strikes exactly the balance of new and old we were anticipating from the album. Right Here, Right Now makes up for Moroder’s last couple of single attempts a hundred times and with a video rumoured to have been shot it looks likely this will be a single.

pat-lok1

Vancouver’s most prolific (and consistently brilliant) Disco/House producer Pat Lok is about to drop another new release, the man just keeps them coming. He’s kicking off 2015 in big style with his new single, All In My Head. For this one he’s brought on-board fellow Canadian Desirée Dawson to lay down some soulful vocals over a glorious Warehouse backing, Check it out.

Lok pulls out all the stops for his new one. Throwing a touch of Disco and a hint of Garage into a vintage 90s House mix he serves up a single that is rich and inventive whilst delivering all the classic House moments. The punchy bass/organ/electric piano combo cascades out of the speakers and is truly unstoppable, compelling you to move. Desirée’s vocals are pitch perfect, effortlessly sounding contemporary whist channelling House divas of the past and are totally in tune with Pat’s energetic, involving House tune. A real dancefloor destroyer, the reMix package is due out soon featuring work from the one and only Cyclist, Aussies Gold Fields, South London duo Howson’s Groove, and SYRE

[Audio] Dirty Vegas cover Duran Duran’s ‘Save A Prayer’

Dirty Vegas

So we made a decision not to cover tunes that were released while we were on holiday. There was as surprising heap of awesome tunes in the past few weeks and we just haven;t got the time to write about all of them, but this little gem unleashed just before X-Mas as a freebie, and soon to be getting a full reMix package released via d:vision Records, is too good to pass over. It’s dancefloor legends Dirty Vegas thank you to their fans for the support in 2014 in the form of a cover of Duran Duran’s monster 1982 hit Save A Prayer.

Paul and Steve have injected the tune with their instantly recognisable brand of soulful House vibes and Balearic groove; which goes surprisingly well with the song. In a way, Rio era Duran Duran was the original Tropical Dance Pop so it’s no surprise that this translates so well to a summertime floorfiller. The original’s riff have been morphed into a hands-in-the-air chord progression but the enigmatic island atmosphere remains. A beautiful coming together of new and old.

[Audio] Mister Salo’s ‘Disco Mamba’

Mister Salo

Here we go with the latest release from the non-stop juggernaut that is Brixton’s Nude Disco label. This one comes from Italian House producer Mister Salo who was snapped up by the London crew just two days after sending them his demo. Hailing from Torino, Mister Salo A.K.A. Salonia Gianluca has had a sting of low-key releases over the past couple of years; maybe this new one, Disco Mamba, will be his breakthrough.

Disco Mamba is an extremely fun concoction; a melting pot of Latin flavours and vintage Disco stylings and a classic early 90s House groove. Add in some Italo keys and you’ve got yourself a no-nonsense crowd pleaser. OK, so it’s not going to be winning any awards for intelligence or innovation anytime soon, but it’s guaranteed to keep the floor moving.

[Audio] GotSome’s ‘Vibe Out’

gotsome

Bristol Bass merchants GotSome are about to hammer home their new single, the follow up to last year’s clubland destroying Bassline. This new tune sees the duo teaming up with notorious festival hater and humourless narcissist Wiley to produce an absolutely massive slice a speaker shaking that is likely to see them have their first (and much deserved) cross-over hit. This is Vibe Out.

This one is heavy, so make sure you system is turned right up. Robotic beats and razor sharp bass dominate the tune that mixes a little Dancehall and a little Grime into a terminator style Bass House juggernaut. GotSome live up to their manifesto, this one is all about the bassline The duo tease you for over a minute before unleashing, layered with buzzing synths and rumbling subs, the big bass that powers the festival dancefloor powerhouse that is Vibe Out.

[Audio] Leo Kalyan’s ‘Full Circle’

Leo Kalyan

Hello! the latest tune from Leo Kalyan may just be our favourite to date from the London based Future R&B experimentalist. It’s the next tune to be débuted from Leo’s upcoming mixtape, Stranger, and sees him sharing production duties with fellow Londoner and Bass man Grades. Here’s a  taste of what we can expect from Kalyan (big things we predict) in 2015; this is Full Circle.

Haunting yet infectious, Full Circle pulls off the neat trick of building an ethereal electronic soundscape, and still being funky as hell. Kalyan and Grades layer waves of half hear samples, voices and bird calls, amidst a sea of lush synths and delicate arpeggios. Leo’s voice curls over the track like smoke, tying the tack together with his dulcet tones. Feeling both Lo-Fi and expansive, Full Circle is the kind of track you can keep on repeat and just sink into.

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Achilles & One’s ‘La Musica’

Achilles & One

Pure Cosmic Disco energy right now in the form of the new rocker from galactic overlord MiGHty mOUse. This latest dancefloor behemoth is a reMix for German duo Achilles & One’s forthcoming new single, La Musica. Released just before X-MAs, the single also boast work from the likes of Kenny Hectyc and Magic Touch; but it’s the mOUse mix that dominates the release. This one is huge and hypnotic.

While the core of this tune is undoubtedly MiGHty mOUse’s throbbing, bass heavy, retro-futuristic Disco, he weaves a few threads of mesmerising electronics throughout the track. Pulsating Techno and mind-bending Dub vibes both put in an appearance as the tune expands on it’s vintage Disco in spacey ways. Alongside the hammerfall House piano and infectious walking bass you’ll fine magical echo effects and LFO heavy synths giving the tune a roomy, evolving feel. Excellent, and intoxicating, stuff from the mOUse man.

[Audio] Lenno’s ‘No More’

Lenno

It’s been a while since we posted a new track from Finnish wunderkind Lenno; so right now we’re going to post a new track from Finnish wunderkind Lenno. Simple. this one is the B-side to his forthcoming new single Wake Up. In contrast to the high octane big room sounds of the A-side, No More, featuring vocals by Olivera, is a summery, laid back, Dreamwave tune the like of which we haven’t heard for a while. Poolside Disco vibes to follow.

Taking us back a couple of years to a time when the Binary crew ruled the beaches, Fear Of Tigers was serving up new sounds every week and Oliver hadn’t signed to Fool’s Gold and lost their way. No More is a blissful symphony of retro synth and sweet vocals. Gentle picked guitar flutters int eh background and Lenno delivers warm rushes of synths and subtly morphing keys that flow together with Olivera’s hazy voice. Just in-case you get too relaxed, the man brushes this over a distinctly solid dancefloor beat. Lovely stuff!

Lenno’s Wake Up is released 1st January 2015.

[Audio] Hippo Disco’s ‘Falling’ & ‘Answering Machine’

hippo-disco

Here’s something to treat your ear to this weekend. Say hello to Hippo Disco. This trio are the newest additions to the electronic rumors family and we realised, shamefully, that we hadn’t properly introduced you. Roodmin, Oochi & Vinski are three Scots living in Tokyo (and Bali) who have slowly but surely been making a name for themselves; most recently having delivered a storming official reMix of Etienne De Cercy’s We, Computers. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for news of their début EP, and in the meantime check out two choice cuts.

Falling is pure Disco bliss. Effortlessly combining wicked Disco licks with dreamy Balearic keys, Falling has got both the groove and a euphoric sweep. There’s just no way you can resist being drawn into it;s six minute dancefloor dream. Hippo Disco have a knack of making ecclectic and left-field Disco that takes influences from anywhere and doesn’t play by the rules. If Answering Machine doesn’t prove that to you nothing will. Plus music nerd points, but minus cool points, if you know where the bassline comes from. Abrasive and funky as hell all at the same time. Hold tight for the EP!
