The Human League sign with Wall Of Sound!!!

TheHumanLeague

Big, exiting, news! Finally someone has snapped up The Human League!

It was announce this week that the League have signed a multi-album deal with Wall Of Sound! This is fantastic news, WoS are a cool label, Oakey and the girls will be in good company as the label is home to the likes of Shy Child, Soulwax, Røyksopp, Tiga, tEPr etc… Just thinking about that kind of production and reMix talent getting their hands on The League is damn exiting, as is the fact that we will now be getting new League material!

Mark Jones, head of WoS, (who has apparently been chasing The League for years) said this: “It’s an honour and inspiration to have them signed to Wall Of Sound.  They say ‘never work with you heroes’…but fuck that for starters”. Nicely put! And from Oakey himself: “Emerging from a decade in which everyone seems to have spent their time looking backwards we are delighted to have the opportunity to march forwards once again and attempt to produce new and exciting music in a new and exciting partnership.”  See, everyone’s exited!

Listen to their 1981 single ‘The Sound Of The Crowd’ in celebration!

Cagedbaby reMixes Editors

Editors

I never really got Editors, I’m not adverse to a bit of Indie, but they always struck me as really dull. As material from their next album filers out though it seems they may be taking a dark ElectroPop slant which, so far, is sounding, at least, interesting.

This time last week we posted the Boys Noize reMix of the forthcoming  single ‘You Don’t Know Love’ and now we bring you the Cagedbaby reMix. I love a bit of Cagedbaby and he works his dancey ElectroPop magic here whilst keeping the sombre, dramatic tone.

‘You Don’t Know Love’ will be out 25th January.

Catch the MEN

MEN

JD Samson of Le Tigre’s band MEN are finally heading for the UK for a bunch of shown in London and to drum up a little bit extra interest they’ve dropped a couple of reMixes of their ballad ‘Simultaneously’.

New Brooklyn based outfit Tête-À-Tête really do a good job, turning the tune into a full-on ElectroPop floorfiller complete with House piano and Soaring lead lines. Hipster DJ Lauren Flax chills things out more with a deep spacey mix.

Ocelot’s new single

Ocelot

I’m quite exited to hear Ocelot’s début album ‘No Requests’ when it is released, they’ve done some storming reMixes in recent years such as Kap10Kurt , Robyn, Muse, The Killers & Røyksopp, all of them top notch.

Before the album comes the single ‘Our Time’, a anthem for a electronic generation, featuring reMixes by the likes of Kap10Kurt, Calvertron and this one by Bird Petierson who take the vocodered vocals and hits the danceflor running!

FutureFlashs

FutureFlashs

German future Electro act FutureFlashs has been all over the music blogosphere for a year now with many of his tunes and reMixes causing quite a stir.

Now he’s about to drop his first EP for new label KIEZ BEATS, titled ‘Reach’ and it’s a big dirty space-age Electro epic. Check out the robot Synth attack of Blokgolf’s reMix:

Other reMixes on the EP include Sick Boy & Traxx Dillaz

I’m not sure if the repeating vocal “FutureFlashs Reach reMix!” was laid on especially for this promo version, but it works really well!!!! Keep it in there!

The ‘Reach’ EP is released 26th January:

Dangerous Muse want it all!

DangerousMuse

American ElectroPop act Dangerous Muse dropped their first offering on new label Scarce Goods last month, the single ‘I Want It All’.

It’s a deep and intricate SynthPop track that makes great use of resonance to an eerie effect. The polished production reigns the obvious 80’s styling into a slick Pop package.

Looking into Dangerous Muse is a must for any fan of pure SynthPop!

Kids At The Bar reMix Quiet Riot

QuietRiot

We last featured one of Kids At The Bar’s reMixes back here but now have sent on over a little something they have been having fun with in between projects. it’s a big ol’ Electro reMix of American Rock anthem ‘Cum On Feel The Noise’ by Quiet Riot.

Not much to say about it except it’s fun and actually quite cool. It put a smile on my face today!

New M.I.A. track!

M.I.A. just dropped some brand new material, in the form of this video titled ‘There’s Space For Ol Dat I See‘, via Twitter.

Not much is known, even whether that is the title, but more than likely it’s a track from her long awaited follow up to 2007’s  Kala, which is being recorded right now, produced by Blaqstarr. I would say that this is a teaser in the form of raw session material, but it’s actually a really nice track. If the album come out anytime this summer then this laidback electro Hip-Hop could be the soundtrack to chilled summer afternoons!

HURTS; new video

Despite being everyone’s band of the moment and coming fourth in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll, Mancunian ElectroPopers HURTS are yet to release anything, or play a gig!

Their well blogged track of last year ‘Wonderful Life’ is being released as a limited edition 12” (with the Arthur Baker reMix) on 18th January but with the release of this video for the song ‘Blood, tears & Gold’ you can bet it will be the first single proper.

Now THAT is a huge, deep 80’s ballad!!!!

‘Wonderful Life’ can be pre-ordered here:
