Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘Disco Moment’ video

Bright Light Bright Light’s long (really, quite long) awaited new single ‘Disco Moment’ looks like it’s finally here with the premiere of the video.

It’s a really good choice for a single, upbeat ElectroPop with a hint of melancholy and the Jody Wilson directed video serves as a really good introduction to Rod Thomas for the masses who missed out on ‘Love Part II’.

‘Disco Moment’ is released 19th September.

Van Go Lion’s Johnny Hates Jazz cover

Portland ElectroPop duo Van Go Lion have only gone and done a cover of 80’s smooth Pop boy’s Johnny Hates Jazz’s smash hit ‘Shattered Dreams’ ain’t they!

It’s actually really weird to hear a song you know inside out sung by someone else, but Van Go Lion tune in a brilliant updating of the tune. It seems the Jazzers (or the Johnnies?) themselves like the track too, making this statement “25 years since Shattered Dreams was originally a worldwide hit, and after nearly three and a half million airplays in the US alone, its great that the song is reaching a new generation of music fans. We celebrate Van Go Lion’s innovative new recording, and have no doubt that it will add to this continuing success.”. Good job!

Princeton; :kinema: on the reMix

Our favourite Brigton smooth DiscoPop dudes :kinema: are back with a brand new reMix of LA Indie band Princeton’s ‘To The Alps’.

No having heard the original I can’t compare it but I do know that :kinema:’s soulful electronic Pop sends this track into smooth heaven. With some interesting instrumentation :kinema:’s commented that the track is “Partly an attempt to make a kind of twee-indie-disco version of Coma Cat by Tensnake (in a good, referential and respectful way, rather than in a bad, copying and stealing way :P)”.

Princeton – To The Alps (:kinema: reMix)

It’s always fantastic to hear new music from :kinema: so we’re doubly in luck this week as Drop Out Orchestra have just released their new single, ‘All We Need Is Time’ on the awesome Mullet Records and the track features :kinema: big time, listen to it here.

Goin’ Old School: Thompson Twins – Doctor! Doctor!

Thompson Twins, sorely overlooked heroes of 80’s music, to often considered a flash-in-the-pan, they awere actually around for years with a string of successful records, one of those being 1984’s ‘Doctor! Doctor!’, here performed on Top Of The Pops.

M.A.G.I.C. video from The Sound Of Arrows

The Sound Of Arrows just premiered video for their forthcoming ‘M.A.G.I.C.’ single is truly magical.

You wouldn’t necessarily think a post late-70’s-anime-inspired-monster-apocalypse clip would be so heart-warming, but it is. And pretty deep too.

Check out one of the classiest videos of the year.

Bright Light Bright Light reMixes James Yuill

As premiered on last weeks Fear Of Tiger’s ‘The Guestlist’ show this is Bright Light Bright Light’s reMix of James Yuill’s ‘Crying For Hollywood’.

Light and breezy ElectroPop is the order of the day here. Piling on the world’s most feel-good 90’s House piano riff in amongst dreamy arpeggios lifts James’ vocals and lets them do their job perfectly. The sun’s come back out this morning.
