Hervé gives Lily ‘The Fear’

lilyallen21

As I mentioned here Lily Allen has gone all ElectroPop, so I’ll be interested to hear her new album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.

In the meantime Hervé, also known as The Count (i.e. that bloke from The Count & Sinden), has come up with this reMix of ‘The Fear’, the first single form the album, that turns it from a piano-fueled electronic Pop ditty into a dark Dubstep bassfest with some seriously traumatizing synthwork.

Depeche Mode new album news

depechemode

Depeche Mode have finally set a date for the new album, now titled ‘Sounds Of The Universe’

From depechemode.com:

“January 15, 2009- Groundbreaking, chart-topping electro legends Depeche Mode are proud to announce the release of their long-anticipated new studio album, Sounds Of The Universe on April 21, 2009 (Mute Records).”

Looks like Dave Gahan is taking more of a prominent role as a second songwriter which, if his last solo effort is anything to go by, isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

This is the quote from the press release that excites me:

“Recorded in Santa Barbara and New York, Depeche Mode returned to using a lot of vintage gear, from analogue synthesizers to drum machines, in order to conjure up the retro-futuristic arrangements featured on the album”

As ever, ‘Sounds Of The Universe’ will be released on Mute Records Ltd.

It looks like the album will actually be available for download on April 20th in Europe.

If we’re going to take about Depeche I can’t help but drop this 2006 reMix of ‘Personal Jesus’ by Boys Noize:

Depeche Mode – Personal Jesus (Boys Noize Rework) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Along with some classic Mode from ’83:

La Roux (+Lily Allen)

Where to start, where to start?

Ideally I’d be wanting to write about new music and stuff, but there’s also so much from the last six months or so that I want to share. I have no idea where to begin.

This morning my tickets to see La Roux (supporting Lily Allen) in Shepherd’s Bush showed up, so I guess that is a good enough place to start…

London’s La Roux, the latest signing to the mighty Kitsuné Music, is an odd beast. I think it would be fair to say La Roux is a bit like Marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it. I wasn’t so sure when I first heard it but it has very much grown on me, I kinda’ have a thing for female vocalists with quirky voices though.

So grab yourself some of Elly Jackson’s unique, to say the least, voice over some addictivly funky SynthPop…

…and the track:

La Roux – Quicksand (zshare) (MediaFire)

On top of that you HAVE to check out this massive reMix by autoKratz, possibly one of my favourite reMixes of the moment:

La Roux – Quicksand (autoKratz Drags To Riches Mx) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Seeing as how La Roux is going to be supporting Lily Allen I’ll throw you this unofficial reMix of her forthcoming single, which I picked up from PrettyMuchAmazing!, too:

Lily Allen – The Fear (Christian Vorbau ‘We Are King Kong’ reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

I’m interested in hearing Lily’s new album now she’s gone all ElectroPop. ‘Female vocalists with quirky voices’ and all….

So, the music industry’s a sinking ship. If you like the songs, throw the artists a lifeline:
