Ah Nitzer Ebb, how much of my youth did you live in my Walkman for? Was ‘Lightning Man’ really 1990?

The return of Tigersapien! (they’re ‘Not Dead’)

Wow, that was an unexpected email! It’s been nearly two years now since Philadelphia based ElectroPop Punksters Tigersapien set out little corner of the music blogosphere on fire with their raucous brand of Electro. They dropped an awesome EP, titled ‘EP’, then seemingly disappeared, so when I checked the electronic rumors Inbox and there was an email from Tigersapien, I took notice!

Well, it seems the Tigers have dragged themselves from their favourite strip joints to get together a new EP ready to drop this coming January and they’ve dropped off the first track, fittingly called ‘Not Dead’.

‘Not Dead’, is exactly the Tigersapien we remember. This track is bordering on EBM, in it’s arpeggios, but mashed up with a health dose of noisy Electro and a rock ‘n’ roll swagger and that live rawness that ran through their last EP. If you like your ElectroPop punky or your ElectroPunk poppy, then Tigersapien are for you.

Tigersapien – Not Dead

Tigersapien’s new EP, ‘Clean Lines’, is coming 11th January 2011.

Video: Goose – ‘Can’t Stop Me Now’

Belgian Electro-Rock act Goose are gearing up for the release of their long awaited second album, ‘Synrise’, and are kicking off their return with this, the video for their forthcoming single ‘Can’t Stop Me Now.

True to their Belgian roots, the track is borderline Old School EBM with a modern Electro/ElectroPop slant and will probably find receptive ears amongst fan of The Presets. The EBM arpeggios combined with modern production and anthemic vocals make for a track that’s sure to storm the clubs.

The video was directed by Megaforce.

‘Synrise’ (already available in Belgium) is out in 2011 on Studio !K7.

Christopher Anton’s ‘Fade To Grey’

ChristopherAnton

Singer of the 2000’s re-envisioned Information Society, Christopher Anton, is furthering his solo career with this cover of Visage’s ‘Fade To Grey’.

It’s a tough one to cover, the atmosphere and performance of the original is hard to top (and never has been in my opinion) but Anton does an adequate job here. The track is upbeat and enjoyable but unfortunately seems to suffer the same fate as much of the ‘Modern SynthPop’ scene, particularly those coming from an EBM/Industrial background, in that it seems not to have much understanding of contemporary Electronic music which tends to make the production quite stilted and mediocre. That said, it is a nice cover version and will probably go down a storm at EBM clubs.

Death To Sexy

DeathToSexy

Straight outta’ Canada come Death To Sexy describing themselves as ‘Punk-infused Electro’, I’m hearing a dash of early 80’s ‘dirty’ SynthPop, a sprinkling of old school EBM, a spoonful of ElectroClash and a healthy helping of modern Electro.

Dirty bass and dancefloor beats sit underneath vocalist Kelcy Clark’s brooding lyrics.

Check out the hypnotic bassline of their track ‘Operation Housewife’:

Client: ‘6 In The Morning’ reMixed

client

Those nice fellows at SubSpace Communications have sent on over this reMix of ‘6 In The Morning’ by UK ElectroPop goddesses Client.

Client have been a staple of the worldwide ElectroPop scene and, having weathered the mainstream’s on/off relationship with Electronic music, continue to churn out great album after great album. Maybe now the mainstream is (temporarily) in love with ElectroPop it’s time for Client to be elevated into super-stardom?

This reMix is supplied by Biomekkanik, which is Christer Hermodsson (or Crull-E!) from Sci-Fi SynthPoppers S.P.O.C.K., now producing EBM flavoured ElectroPunk with this side-project. With this reMix he turns the 60’s tinged ‘6 In The Morning’ into a hypnotic Electro-Rock beast.
