Kids On Bridges’ ‘Check Your Head’

kids on bridges

February sees the release of, North West of England based, Kids On Bridges’ new double A-side single ‘This Is Widescreen’/’Check Your Head’.

The first track ‘This Is Widescreen’, is a little bland and uninspired. The flip side, however, ‘Check Your Head’ is awesome! A bombastic chunk of filtered DiscoPop that draws from everything from Indie-Electro to French Touch and really works those Disco strings to their fullest effect. Part Electro-Rock part Nu-Disco, it’s a heady combination that also has a raw, live, anthemic quality to it. Hopefully the guys will push themselves with this side of the single.

‘This Is Widescreen’/’Check Your Head’ is released 20th February.

Indian Summer reMix Polographia

Polographia

Australian Dreamwavers Indian Summer have souped up Polographia’s ‘Righteous Heat’, turning it from deep ambiance to a funked up slice of SynthWave.

Layers of the crispest, cleanest and rounded synth sounds echo and bounce off one another over a fresh Disco beat giving the originally melancholic track the lift it needed. Even the new melodies serve to raise the tune to the point where it’s now an infections five minutes of mysterious Sci-Fi ElectroPop.

Miike Snow’s ‘Paddling Out’

miike-snow

Miike Snow have given us a second taste of what to expect from their forthcoming new album.

‘Paddling Out’ is rough and ready sing-a-long, piano led ElectroPop. It’s like ElectroPop got drunk and lost it’s inhibitions at an early ‘90’s House club. I’m feeling this one a lot more than the Swedish trio’s previous new track, ‘Devil’s Work’. Catchy as hell, ‘Paddling Out’ just makes you want to jump up.

Miike Snow’s new album, ‘Happy To You’, is due for release in March 2012.

Empire State Human’s new single

Empire State Human

Ireland’s Empire State Human (incidentally, the first act we interviewed on electronic rumors, all those years ago!) has released a brand new single this month, ‘December Rose’.

A beautiful, deep electronic ballad-with-a-beat, ‘December Rose’ not only features Aidan Casserly’s Kraftwerk inspired machine synthesizer patterns but some huge cinematic chord work that life the track into the relms of epic. Add to that a lilting, almost ‘90’s beach House, saxophone and you have an evocative slice of laid back SynthPop.

Visitor reMix The Sound Of Arrows

soundofarrows

It’s just our luck that yesterday, the one day we can’t post anything due to being on strike to protest against barbaric proposals to cripple the internet, the amazing Visitor drops a reMix of the equally amazing The Sound Of Arrows’ ‘Wonders’. It took a lot of willpower not to turn scab!

This reMix is worth waiting for though, it’s like a SynthPop dream. Visitor have perfectly captured the essence of The Sound Of Arrows, and given it their own little twist. Keeping the uplifting euphoria of the original the Visitor boys add a slick Disco guitar riff and laidback beach vibe chords while the whole track builds up to a dancefloor destroying finale. Seriously, can’t wait for Visitor’s album!

‘Wonders’ is out now. Visitor are gearing up for the release of their début album.
