At the start of this year London based duo Picture Book released their début single, Sunshine, which we grew quite fond of, especially the storming Justin Faust reMix. It’s a track that could have been a lot bigger than it was. Well, now it;s time for round two as Picture book have just released their second offering. A four track EP titled Songs About Aimee.
In My Head is the EPs standout track. Of the four originals present it;s the one that sticks with you the most. Skilfully mixing fluffy commercial dance music with shiny Pop, Picture Book deliver a clean, sharp track that is as dancey as it is catchy. With am impassioned chorus and a Balearic building backing In My Head is slick Dance Pop done right. Being In Love (For The First Time) is the EP’s opener, and sets up the proceedings quite well with it’s piercing lead line set against bassy post-Euphoric Trance Ibiza electronics and a soulful vocal. Elsewhere in the EP you’ll find the deeper Why Are We Wasting Our Time and the chilled sunrise tune of Nothing Wrong With Goodbye. After grabbing out attention with Sunshine, Picture Book have proved it wasn’t a fluke.

This has been floating around for a while now, it’s been playlisted here a lot so I have no excuse as to why we haven’t posted it before. We featured the original of Picture Book and Greta Svabo Bech’s ‘Sunshine’ a while back but just never got round to pimping the awesome Justin Faust reMix.
Well, the man has just posted it to his SoundCloud account, so what better time to rectify our oversight. We thought the original was a really catchy track, but a little to Euphoric fluff for our tastes, but Mr. Faust rectifies that perfectly. It’s the same catchy, infectious tune, but with a backing of that wonderful Justin Faust synth Disco goodness. Everything about this track from the bouncy Disco bass to the smooth solo make you smile. It’s a really good vocal, Greta has an interesting inflection to her voice that’s pretty involving, in our opinion Faust has done the vocal more justice than the original.
Right, on first impression I wasn’t going to post about this track, it seemed a bit to much like Ibiza fluff for me, but my word it is catchy! It’s been stuck in my head to the extent when I have to write something.
Picture Book are are brothers Dario Darnell and Lorne Ashley and their track ‘Sunshine’ features vocals from Greta Svabo Bech, her of Deadmau5’ ‘Raise Your Weapon’ fame. It’s got a good chance of being a big summer hit, and once you get past the Ibiza fluffyness of it it’s actually a really complex song hidden underneath a ‘90’s Pop Dance track. Give it a second listen, you’ll see what I mean.
