Our favourite Brightonian soulful Electro DiscoPoppers :kinema: have reMixed My Tiger, My Timing’s latest single ‘Endless Summer’.
An antidote to rainy grey holidays the track is pure summer nostalgia and :kinema: take that feeling to the next level with their typically smooth sound. The chilled Yacht vibe is prefect for a song about summer good times. The Balearic piano, the Disco strings, the late 80’s electronic R&B bass, it all makes for the perfect combination. the only question is when are we going to get an album from :kinema:?
Our favourite Brigton smooth DiscoPop dudes :kinema: are back with a brand new reMix of LA Indie band Princeton’s ‘To The Alps’.
No having heard the original I can’t compare it but I do know that :kinema:’s soulful electronic Pop sends this track into smooth heaven. With some interesting instrumentation :kinema:’s commented that the track is “Partly an attempt to make a kind of twee-indie-disco version of Coma Cat by Tensnake (in a good, referential and respectful way, rather than in a bad, copying and stealing way :P)”.
It’s always fantastic to hear new music from :kinema: so we’re doubly in luck this week as Drop Out Orchestra have just released their new single, ‘All We Need Is Time’ on the awesome Mullet Records and the track features :kinema: big time, listen to it here.
Brighton’s peddlers of the smoothest of smooth Electro DiscoPop :kinema: have a new EP forthcoming. The ‘’My Beautiful Machines’ EP drops in a weeks time is an exercise in pure dancefloor grooves and slick romance to produce a sound that we seem to be sorely lacking in producing in the UK. Luckily :kinema: take up the slack for the rest of our isle. ‘I Love Your Beam’ is a perfect example of their sense of humour too and their Disco-for-lovers vibe.
Seriously, next time your with a girl (or guy), stick on :kinema:…and then thank them by picking up ‘My Beautiful Machines’.
:kinema:, those Brightonian purveyors of funky ElectroPop are headed down the chimney with their free slice of X-mas cheer for you all.
‘3 Wolf Moon’ is their present to you this X-mas. It’s been a while since there was any new :kinema: material so it’s a well though out present indeed! The kings of British FunkPop give you something a little smooth for the holiday season. With it’s slick synths and Disco guitars ‘3 Wolf Moon’ is just the track to get a little weird to at the office party.
Right, I’m kicking off this post with a confession. you remember the hiatus we hadfor a few monthslast year? Well, we receive literally hundreds of items of promotional music weekly, and during that period a whole lot got overlooked, ignored or even binned. I didn’t even know if the site was coming back at the time. I didn’t have the time to work on the site at all, let alone give everything we receive a fair listen.
Some things fell through the cracks, and for that I am truly sorry.
Why the sudden remorse? Well, this past weekend I was lucky enough to catch live one of the acts who’s emails were buried in the inbox build-up around that time. They are called :kinema: and they blew me away!
There’s a whole lot of upcoming ElectroPop acts from the UK, amazing talents who are embracing the Dreamwave sound and applying it to British SynthPop, but who’s got our smooth and soulful Electro-Funk-Pop base covered? :kinema: have, and they could easily go toe-to-toe with Chromeo!
Already drawing comparisons to the likes of Hot Chip and Phoenix, this Brighton band has been nurturing their sound since 2007 and last year dropped their début EP, ‘Circles’ Amongst the reMixes of the title track was this one by Soul Jazz man Secondo who’s Housey rework injects an deep early 90’s warehouse bassline into the track.
:kinema: have just released a brand new single titled ‘Recreation’ which is backed with their cover of Animal collective’s ‘My’ Girl’, check their website, http://kinema.co.uk/, for the lowdown.
