Victoria Sheahan A.K.A. Lemon. is a brand new artist hailing from Toronto (as many of the best people in the world do). Unlike many of her contemporaries, Lemon. steers clear of the Nu-folky tropes, it’s so easy for solo artists to fall into, in favour of pairing her lilting voice with an emotionally used array of synths. Check out her début track, You Know Too Much, and wrap your ears around the start of something special.
You Know Too Much sees Victoria deliver a passionate and heartfelt vocal performance. Her delicate voice really sounds like it is wearing it’s heart on it’s sleeve. The song itself is in the finest tradition of North American singer/songwriters, relatable and laced with heartbreak. What sets the song, and Lemon., apart is the waves of ominous and beautiful electronic. Haunting and bizarrely catchy (in an otherworldly yet Tropical way), from he dark brooding tones to the drifting melodies, Lemon. has perfectly matched her intoxicating voice with smokey clouds of synth brilliance. You need to hear this.

I really like Lemon’s “You Know Too Much”. Probably due to the fact that I adore the film, “Pan’s Labyrinth”. The opening melody and the structure that most of the song is built upon, is sampled from it. If you’ve seen the film, you already know it is one of the most catchy little somber tunes you’ve ever had the pleasure of getting stuck in your head. It works well here.
