Ladyhawke reMixed by Punks Jump Up
We’re still in two minds about what we’ve heard of Ladyhawke’s forthcoming new album, some of what we’ve heard is amazing, some of it too rocky for our tastes. I guess we’re just wishing for the good old days of 2008 New Wave Ladyhawke. Take the new single, ‘Black, White & Blue’ it sounds like catchy Ladyhawke, but all those standard rock guitars kinda’ grate on our ears. Enter Punks Jump Up to save the day.
Their reMix of ‘Black, White & Blue’ is exactly what I wanted to hear for the single. I love Pip’s voice so much, so that combined with Punks Jump Up’s bouncy FM bassline is pure gold. Full of hits, stabs and other retro dance tropes this track is gonna’ be so much fun to drop on a dancefloor.

New video from Canyons
Canyons new video for their ‘See Blind Through’ is as much of an early ‘90’s house affair as the song itself! The track features a splash of Nite Jewel’s Ramona Gonzalez.
Director Daniel Brereton must have been studying videos from everyone from Orbital to Soul II Soul!

Unreleased ceo!
ceo’s (Eric Berglund from The Tough Alliance) début album ‘White Magic’ is causing quite stir amongst those with discerning tastes and with good reason. Sure, at it’s core it’s ElectroPop, but it almost defies definition. I’ve honestly never heard anything like it, influences form World Music, Hip-Hop and a certain symphonic quality to ceo’s music make it a really special listen. I suppose you’ll either get it or you won’t, but if you do, it’s kinda’ infectious.
Anyway, those fine folk at Modular, in celebration for the release, are giving away this unused track from the album sessions. ‘Everything Is Gonna’ Be Alright’ would have fitted perfectly on the album, it’s a tribal escape from reality (with pan-flutes!).

New SynthPop from Modular’s ceo
‘ceo is Modular’s new SynthPop signing and one half of Modular licensed Swedish ElectroPop act The Tough Alliance.
It’s so good to here some new, interesting Electro coming from the Modular house and the half of TTA that is Eric Berglund has carved a unique niche for himself in the ElectroPop field. Creative use of samples sets ceo’s music apart from the pack and the mysterious visuals will certainly keep people intrigued. Keep an ear our of ceo in the coming months.
‘Come With me is released June 7th followed by the album ‘White Magic’ on Modular Recordings, 28th June.

Ladyhawke’s ‘Paris Is Burning’ is re-released this week, canine cover an’ all, so before you click on over to your favourite .mp3 emporium check this reMix Alex Metric has dropped turning ’Paris’ into a driving Electro growler.

The Presets reMixed by Heartbreak!!!
We’ve already posted the video for The Presets‘ next single, the wonderful ‘If I Know You’, one of the reMixes we were very exited to hear was by Italo-ElectroPopsters Heartbreak.

Yesterday, The Presets premièred their new video for the upcoming single ‘If I Know You’:
The video is directed by Eva Husson (who directed the acclaimed short for M83′s Kim and Jessie)
‘If I Know You’ is possibly my favourite track off of last years, absolutely stunning, ‘Apocalypso’ so I’m chuffed it’s getting single treatment, even more so if you take into account the reMix line up, which includes Tom Middleton, Via Tania & Jori Hulkkonen, Chaim, Heartbreak and Vince Clarke!!!
‘If I Know You’ will be out in late march on Modular Recordings, more news as we have it.

NeverEverLand II
Those fine folks at Modular Recordings are bringing their mini-festival, NeverEverLand, back to London on 14th March. Once again at The Coronet Theatre.
The last NeverEverLand was a fantastic night, hosting the likes of The Presets, Shy Child, Ladyhawke, Van She, Fred Falke, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Lifelike, thecocknbullkid, Frankmusik etc…
The line up this time includes Afrika Bambaataa, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip (DJ Set)), Bang Gang Deejays, Tame Impala, Drums Of Death, Holy Ghost! (DJ Set), The Golden Filter, Zomby, Matt Horne (from Gavin and Stacey!) and Modular DJs…phew!
