La Roux reMix I Blame Coco
I Blame Coco A.K.A Eliot Sumner (of sister to Sting fame) has reached out to tour buddy La Roux to remix her forthcoming single ‘Self Machine’.
Is this the first La Roux reMix of another artist? I’m probably forgetting someone here but no other one springs to mind. Anyway, the track is reminiscent of ‘Quicksand’ a bit and takes be back to the summer of ‘08, which seeing as how it’s quite a summery tune, is no bad thing.
Annie Mac premiered it on her show, so check the radio rip.

‘Self Machine’ is out soon.
Heaven 17 & La Roux – Temptation
Following on from their meeting of electro giants old and new, in the form of Little Boots and Gary Numan, last December BBC 6Music recently paired up ex-The Human League SynthPop legends Heaven 17 with current ElectroPop royalty La Roux at Maida Vale.
The whole session is a nice affair, lots of banter between the two acts, you get the feeling that this was a more comfortable affair than the Little Boots/Numan gig where Gary always looked a little uncomfortable, especially singing ‘Stuck On Repeat’
Anyway, both sessions are hit and miss (although generally hits) but for me the highlight of both is Heaven 17 and Elly performing H17’s classic ‘Temptation’. Elly’s vocals really lend themselves well to the track.

You can listen to the session in full on the BBC iPlayer here until the end of the week and digital viewers in the UK can watch the whole thing (and the Boots/Numan show) by pressing the red button (I feel kinda’ weird saying that, like a TV voice over guy, but it’s true) until 6th February.
Spector
Spector is a name that has been around for a while. John-Paul Denton (and occasional partner John Elliott) have had their fingers in various Dance music pies for a few years culminating in Spector releasing some sweet Pop fuelled dancefloor Electro funk.
This track ‘near The Mark’ is taken from Spector’s forthcoming ‘Infrasound’ EP and it’s a jittery banger with an infections funk bassline.

To promote the release Spector is also dropping this noisy Electro-House reMix of La Roux’s ‘Bulletproof’ with some seriously growling synths!

The ‘Infrasound’ EP is out soon on Rogue Industries.
La Roux Vs. The Subs
The Subs have had a good couple of years, with the release of their first album ‘Subculture’ on Lektroluv and a host of 12”’s and remixes.
They round off this year with a reMix of one of my favourite racks from La Roux’s self-titled début, ‘Colourless Colour’. They completely change the vibe of the track, making it more frantic which adds an urgency to Elly’s vocals

it will be interesting to see if ‘colourless Colour’ will be the next single, after the re-release of ‘Quicksand’.
The week in Bangers: 07:06:09
The week in Bangers: While electronic rumors isn’t strictly an Electro-House blog, we do cover a lot of Electro-House that crosses over in to our realm. So many good club tunes and reMixes surface each week we can’t (and wouldn’t) cover them all, so this is a round up of some of the best from the week that we didn’t have time to dedicate individual posts to…
This weeks club roundup starts off with another reMix of La Roux’s ‘Bulletproof’ by tEPr and a Vitalic reMix of Birdy Nam Nam’s ‘The Parachute Ending’. Friendly Fires get reworked by Stuart Price A.K.A. Thin White Duke and Death To The Throne take on a Lykke Li cover of a Kings Of Leon song. Fredrick Carlsson reMixes Jonathan Johansson as Johan Agebjörn does for Friday Bridge. La Roux – Bulletproof video!
Sorry for the lack of post last week guys. Things are busy IRL, this week is pretty busy too but I’ll try to post as often as I can. Next week normal service resumes!
So, La Roux have just dropped the new video for their next single ‘Bulletproof’. Check out the neon goodness!
‘Bulletproof’ is out on June 15th.
La Roux Vs. Wookie
With ‘Bulletproof’, La Roux’s third single, incoming it’s time to brace ourselves for the inevitable tide of reMixes…not that that’s a bad thing.
Here La Roux are taken on by London House Award magnet Wookie who gives us a odd, but compelling, tom-tom-tastic reMix.
It’s all 909’s and heavy bass!

Wassup peeps? This week in Bangers kicks off with Joris Voorn’s Electro Acid ‘Addict’ before crashing straight into the vocoder Disco of the Tronik Youth reMix of Drlkt Freddie Freddie’s ‘Airtight’. The Nu-Disco continues with Fenech-Soiler reMixed by Combo and the Amazing Mad Decent mix of ‘Quicksand’ by ElectroPop superstar La Roux. The Twelves keep it funky with their take on Metric whilst Neon Indian provide some quirky dancefloor Noise-Pop. Mark Lam reworks Streetlife DJs hit of last year ‘We ♥ The Disco Sound’ and bring it back banging and we leave you with our favourite anthropomorphised tigers, Tigersapian, and a new reMix by Clockwork.

La Roux Vs. Lifelike
Is there time for just one more reMix of ‘In For The Kill’ before La Roux’s next single, ‘Bulletproof’ is released?
Of course there is!
Saving the best ‘til last comes Lifelike. His really 80’s SynthPop, with a dance beat, take on the track has it vying against Heartbreak’s reMix for the position of my favourite version.

Here’s your chance to pick up ‘In For The Kill’ before the ‘Bulletproof’ reMix flood begins!:
Heartbreak reMixes La Roux

There are a few reMixes of La Roux’s forthcoming second single ‘In For The Kill’ knocking around, and there will be more to come I bet, but this one has to be my favourite so far.
No surprise it comes courtesy of Heartbreak, who bring a real, retro, Italo, feel to the table. This really wouldn’t be out of place on a mid-late 80’s dancefloor!

Kinda’ miss the “Ooooo, Ooooo”s though…
Both La Roux and Heartbreak are more than worthy of your attention.
