Time for some bass heavy French ElectroPop right now from Parisian trio Jolie Chérie. Their new single, One, Two, Three, see a slightly more brooding sound than we are used to from this lot, but the end result is more compelling and involving and something you can really get your teeth into.
Just listen to that all-encompassing synth bass. It’s like a hypnotic monster that seems to suck you in. The track is densely layered with electronic swoops and lead lines that create an almost wall-of-sound atmosphere, but while keeping things melodic. Melina Duval’s husky vocal delivery lend the track an air of mystery and a kind of gentleness to contest the raw synth work. Jolie Chérie are fast on their way to becoming the new starts of French SynthPop.

Amazing Retro Pop artist Patrick Baker is gearing up for the release of his début single. Released next month, Get 2 Know U is actually the first track of Patrick’s we featured on electronic rumors, back in June last year, and now it’s getting a proper release, backed with a pretty special reMix package, in anticipation of Baker’s album release later this year. TelevisorJolie Cherie
You’ve probably heard Get 2 Know U by now, it’s a lush slice of 80s Americana. when we first wrote about it we commented that Patrick baker is to American 80s Pop what Kid Kasio is to British 80s Pop, and that’s true. Patrick authentically creates a nostalgic vision of the US charts in the great decade. Get 2 Know U is a catchy, upbeat slab of ElectroPop. Fun and funky, what more could you want? reMixes come from Robots With Rayguns with a deep, west coast, Pop mix, Televisor, who inject the track with a summery, beach-party, vibe and lends Get 2 Know U some Nu-Disco flair, and France’s Jolie Cherie, who turn in a relaxed, spacey, Disco tinged ElectroPop mix that has a nice warm sound to round of the single. We’re so pleased Patrick is starting to release stuff properly and predict big things from this guy.

Last month, new LA based boutique label Opus Label released their début compilation, ‘Opus Label One’, that treats us to 12 tracks of electronic music that speaks to the heart.
The brainchild of Miguel Angel Jiménez and Jeremy Wineberg, Opus is a project that encompasses a record label, club night and clothing range with ‘Opus Label’ One’ setting out their music manifesto. The first of a series of monthly/bi-monthly compilations, this album is crammed full of some of the sweetest tracks from the past couple of years and some new stuff too. The overall vibe is one of eclectic, introspective and sunk-kissed ElectroPop featuring the likes of Jolie Cherie, Jupiter, The Ice Choir, Joywave, Matt Van Schie, Second Date. With the CD version of the album coming packaged with a gorgeous cover and booklet curated by photographer Dirk Mai, this series looks like one to keep a definite eye on.

January finally sees the release of Kitsuné DJs extraordinaire JBAG’s début artist single.
After numerous awesome reMixes and two essential mix albums (‘Kitsuné BoomBox’ and ‘Kituné X Ponystep’) the duo of Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino have teamed up with ex-Ping Pong Bitches frontwoman Louise Prey on ‘X-Ray Sex’.
First heard on the Kitsuné X Ponystep’ compilation, ‘X-ray Sex’ is a pretty stunning début, these two have cranked out some amazing reMixes and edits in the past few years and you can see how things were heading in this direction. Equal parts ElectroPop and House with a nice 80’s flavour (particularly in the bassline), it’s defiantly got a London vibe to it as well. For something a little heavier check the Jolie Cherie reMix which sounds like a mash-up between early 90’s House and some killer Electro bass!
