Marina And The Diamonds reMixed by Lovers & Gamblers

MarinaAndTheDiamons05

More Marina And The Diamonds you say? Well that’s just fine! Especially as she is the target for the latest reMix by Little Boot’s posse Lovers & Gamblers.

A few reMixes in and we’re now starting to get a real feel for L&G’s style. I love the way they use their synths, it’s pretty stripped down, just concentrating on the groove, it’s like raw Electro Disco. I can imagine them, not surrounded by thousands of pounds worth of studio gear, but with a handful of trusty analog synths and a four-track! This reMix has a killer bassline, pretty aggressive but sweetened by the blanket of retro synth work over the top, and we know the original’s a good song anyway!

Is it just me or do Marina’s vocals really lend well to reMixes? More so than most?

The ‘I Am Not A Robot’ single is out on 26th April.

Sander Kleinenberg – R.Y.A.N.L.

Sander Kleinenberg

A straight up banger for you now coming from DJ, producer and label boss Sander Kleinenberg out of Amsterdam.

Deep basslines, noisy synths and a cut up vocoded vocal line intercut with cutting synth breakdowns. there are some almost ElectroPop elements amongst the tough synths here. This is sure to get a major hammering in the clubs.

This is pure peak-time stuff:

Penguin Prison & Starsmith; who could ask for more?

PenguinPrison04

After his sterling work on Ellie Goulding’s number 1 album, SynthPop prodigy Starsmith is back in the reMixing game and there’s not an artist I can thin of who I rather hear him reMix than Penguin Prison.

Tackling ‘The Worse It Gets’ for Penguin Prison’s recent double A side Starsmith turns in a sheer brilliant slice of Nu-Disco styled electronic Pop. The man was one of the most talented electronic music producers around anyway but I think his time chillin’ with Messrs Chimes and Grum has been a good influence on him! Really looking forward to his solo EP!

Konnichiwa

Konnichiwa

Kaela Noel and D.V. Caputo A.K.A. Konnichiwa are a New York based duo who make some retro sounding, reverb heavy, ElectroPop.

Having met as teenagers in art class they started swapping mixtapes and eventually began making music.

There is something really refreshing about Konnichiwa’s take on ElectroPop, they’ve got the 80’s move soundtrack basslines and arpeggios of Dreamwave but their effects heavy drums and toy synth leads lines give then a completely fresh sound.

Baby Monster + Golden Bug

BabyMonster03

Today we can share with you another reMix of Baby Monster’s pretty gobsmacking début ‘She Comes Alive’.

This time it’s Golden Bug who saunters up to the bar and orders a shot of ‘She Comes Alive’. Layers upon layers of synths build on top of each other and intertwine with the original track to the beat of cheap drum machines. it’s a cool slice of Space-Disco.

‘She Comes Alive’ is out on 29th March on BigStereo Records, the 7” is pretty limited so go grab one while you can!

Acid Washed’s début album

AcidWashed02

Acid Washed’s first long player dropped this month on Record Makers. I love their particularly retro, analog, take on French Electro-House.

‘Change’ is a perfect example of their Pop fulled Space-Disco with more than a slight nod to Moroder. But despite the  Disco arpeggios there is something quite organic about Acid Washed’s sound, it’s constantly and naturally evolving.

Pirate Radio Documentary

 PirateRadio

Something a little different now but I though some of you, especially readers from the UK might get a kick out of this.

No pun intended with the ‘kick’ remark, as this short documentary about the history of Pirate Radio in London was commissioned by Palladium Boots as part of their ‘Explorations’ series. Don’t let that put you off though, it’s actually a fascinating (albeit brief at 16mins) look at those DJs and radio techs who (like us music bloggers) can’t help but let their love of music vent somewhere.

Having grown up listening to pirate radio, just the atmosphere that this documentary provokes puts a nostalgic smile on my face.

New Midnight Juggernauts reMixes

MidnightJuggernauts

It’s been a while since Midnight Juggernauts released ‘This New Technology’ and we’re glad to say the band are preparing to return with a brand new single, titled ‘Vital Signs’, on their own label, Siberia Records, in April.

So, to keep you going until then we’ve got a couple of recent reMixes of ‘This New Technology’ for you. First up is, no stranger to electronic rumors, Ccenturiess and the sweet rolling bassline of their Disco Funk mix. In quite stark contrast is the B-side to the limited edition ‘This New Technology’ 7” on Acephale, a dungeon & bass (heh!) remix by Babe Rainbow that fills your speakers with haunting sounds and a bowel loosening bassline!

Two Door Cinema Club Vs. Ted & Francis at the beach!

TwoDoorCinemaClub03

Kitsuné’s Irish boys Two Door Cinema Club are re-releasing their single ‘Something Good Can Work’ with a proper push this time, it’s the prefect summer Indie tune. It’s feel good and anthemic in an understated way.

Part of the reMix package will be this track by fellow Kitsunérs Ted & Francis who take that perfect summer Indie tune and dish it up for the ElectroPop crowd, it’s still a fun, sing-along, chilled piece of work but now comes with added Disco bassline, quirky lead and handclaps before dropping you in the middle of the best Electro beach party you’ve ever been to!

New Delorean single

Delorian

Spanish SynthPop outfit Delorean have recently announced their signing with True Panther records along with a new single and début full-length album.

Gaining some recognition with their EP ‘Ayrton Senna’ (leading to offers to support Miike Snow on tour) Delorean have quite an eagerly awaited record on their hands.

‘Stay Close’ will be the first single form the album, ‘Subzia’, and it’s an upbeat, quite Lo-Fi, slice of summery SynthPop with a Hot Chip-esq lead line and loads of reverby backing vocal acrobatics!
